This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave Does anyone else think that the new stand is part of a longer term project... Which will enable the club to grow the support base gradually and one by one upgrade each stand accordingly so in a decade or two we may have two more new stands each capable of holding approximately 8000 more in each... Would end up with a capacity of over 50k. No idea if this has been looked at in detail by the club... but as there targeting only one stand it really does leave the options open for further future expansion once our fan base catches up. Slowly building a proper rival stadium to match the big London clubs?

Returning to the subject matter - The new development looks very impressive, is much needed and will greatly improve the overall appearance of the ground.I just hope that I am still around to avail of it's comforts and splendour ! Perhaps the overall cost of building a brand new stadium for us has proved too costly, hence the more 'Modest' development currently in train. Why spend £800m on a 50k stadium we'd never fill? Surely that's not what your suggesting? So we build one new stand to take us to a capacity we should be able to fill and then look to build the other stands in the future to accommodate future growth. Perfect plans for long term growth over the next couple of decades... Oh and why spook the planners with the thought selhurst will one day be even bigger when all we need them to agree on now is this application. As for those that would rather the money was spent on championship players if we go down.... these are the same people 12 months ago moaning that the stadium would never happen! On HOL you couldn't make it up...

The club then goes for planing to develope one stand. Seems fairly on track...

Yes, I think Palace have plans beyond doing just the Main Stand. Steve Parish mentioned that they had "about 50" architects look at trying to redesign the Arthur Wait roof so it is supported without pillars and they also have plans to take out some seats at the back to enlarge the concourse there. With regard to the Whitehorse end, you would think it initially odd to actually reduce it by 690 seats to lengthen the pitch. However have a look at the attached plan. This has to be the initial blueprint for that end, on the architects drawing board already. ....above the lower tier, almost ghostly, is an upper tier of seats with stairwells, and even the Whitehorse roof is in a higher position to what is there currently. You might have to tilt your screen slightly to see the 'pencil' detail to which I refer. So yes, I do think the club has plans beyond this one Main Stand. But they don't want the Council/planners to get wind of it, because they would insist on a masterplan being submitted, which would slow things down by 2 years. Instead the club just want to do things one stand t a time as standalone applications. Edited by dorking (14 Mar 2018 6.48am)

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave Taken from the Croydon website "Extension of Main Stand to provide seating for an additional 8,225 spectators and an additional 24,522sqm of floor space internally (beneath the expanded Main Stand) to be used for the operation of the football club and ancillary functions (Use class D2), and a 550sqm GIA restaurant/retail unit (Use class A1/A3). Demolition of 22-32 Wooderson Close, and associated refurbishment works to end elevation of 20 Wooderson Close, reorganisation of the associated parking facilities and gardens. Reorganisation of the club and supermarket car parks, and site accesses from Holmesdale Road and within the car parking area from Whitehorse Lane, with associated hard and soft landscaping. Use of the club car park as a fan plaza on match-days. Pitch lengthening (from 101m to 105m), and the creation of accessible seating within the Whitehorse Lane Stand (spectator capacity reduced by 690). Creation of replacement spectator capacity (683 additional), and relocation of the fan zone, to the corner of the Holmesdale Road and Arthur Wait stands. Reorganisation of floodlighting, including the removal of two of the flood light masts. Removal of the TV Gantry at the Arthur Wait Stand. Open for Comment Ref. At the moment around 3500 positive comments and 80 negative. We need the other 30000 regular fans to add their voices quickly. Looks like the negatives are almost all from SE25. No surprise but the ground was certainly there before they were. They probably got their houses cheap as a result.
