They don't want to pay wages.

Petrol stations will disapear

No more delivery driverers with drone technology, Amazon not only can avoid uk tax but save on wages

So why on earth are we importing more people??

And that is just the start.

Weatherspoons are already trialling a self service beer dispenser with tap and pay technology. I expect a similar version will happen for coffee shops.

Various health service companies are trialling a medical type Alexa system. Instead of a care worker visiting an elderly patient once a week they will be monitored 24 x 7 by a compute system which can also do basic medical checks and alert medical staff if the person is having problems. Long term this will reduce the number of care workers.

How long before McDonalds or KFC trial technology that makes and serves fast food. Already in McDonalds they want you to order using touch screen.

The High Street is dying so no job growth there.

The only politician I have heard talk about this and raise concerns is Chuka Umunna. The Tories want to keep quiet because they know this could mean mass unemployment. Labour to their shame and I don't understand why are saying nothing.

As Dannyboy says at the very time millions of entry level jobs will start to disappear some people want to continue increasing our population.

Oh and as this is the Brexit thread this will happen Remain or Leave.

Remove this from the table (No Deal option) and we are completely screwed.

I don't understand how this is Labour policy.

How would you convince them to vote leave other than the usual anti eu rhetoric? A question which foxes most. I suppose as long as there are enough people of a similar ilk, old fuddy duddys who read the daily mail and talk about the war and the British empire you should be OK

To be honest I'm not sure enough people are prepared to wait 30-50 years for their unicorn

The only war they took part in is the 'bore' war.

Please tell me again that you voted brexit and will do again, I am riveted to the spot.........

Paying your agreed share is supported by everyone, even those who have not yet achieved it. The issue is defining what is "fair".

It seems like most remoaners your anti Brexit rhetoric is based on insulting anyone that doesn't share your views.

If you think Tony, the EU and immigration have accelerated the increasing trend of people being left behind, just wait until automation really kicks in. Makes Brexit seem irrelevant in comparison. Game over for the majority of the traditional labour market and working class employment.

Yes this has been in my mind too. And what a good point above regarding why are we bringing more people in?

Its amazing to hear their lectures on the EU and in-depth totally inaccurate forecasts of the next 10 years there, whereas they don't have a clue what will happen in their own country in the next fortnight.

I disagree, the UK has spent most of his history outside of the any such organization. Several European countries exist and do very well outside of the EU.

The EU wants the sovereignty of its member states and destruction of the nation state. It wants an army and it wants to rival the US as a superpower.

I will never support that.

Edited by Stirlingsays (20 Jan 2019 9.25am)

Unsurprisingly I disagree. I think this idea that the EU wants to destroy the nation state is garbage. It's just the mantra of the strident anti-EU lobby. More importantly, the EU cannot do it anyway. We, and many other countries, would not agree. I just see the use of a term that was fashionable a few years ago, but is rarely heard these days. Subsidiarity! We do together those things which are better done together and do alone those things which are better done alone.

It's the USA of Trump who sees every other country and trading block as rivals. With the inevitable decline of the USA and the rise of Asia generally, and China in particular, the EU needs to build stronger institutions.

I know. Nato requires 2% of GDP.

Not everyone in the USA though thinks that is "fair" do they? Listen to the great orange leader!
