I agree. We all want our country to prosper and will be doing all we can to ensure it does, whatever situation we are in.

You will never though get the hardline anti-EU mob to accept they were wrong. They would rather England be divorced from Scotland, Wales and NI and become a third world country just so long as it is "our" third world country.

The eu created this by being stubborn with cameron.
I bet they wish they had moved a little now!
Our relationship is in tact. Maybe some extra red tape but the EU have rolls of it which they wernt afraid to use. Now it's a smaller roll for us.

What you have to understand, and I am more than willing to confess that I never really comprehended it until we saw the aftermath from the 2016 referendum, that almost all of these Remoaners actually see themselves as much as Europeans as they do British. And this goes beyond the usual bulls*** where people wear Guiness hats on Saint Paddys day or get married in kilts because they had a Sweaty Great Grandmother.

It is (or rather was) actually a significant part of how they identify themselves. How they separate themselves from the common herd. Now there has always been a tendency amongst sections of our class-ridden system to sneer at their fellow countrymen with the Left especially prone to this (Orwell wrote some fantastic stuff exploring this phenomena) so getting those stupid maroon passports was them a really big deal for them.

Never in a million years did they think the Great Unwashed would actually deny them it and their spite ever since has been quite staggering. Really bitter stuff. Wishing death and destruction of wealth on millions. Actually arguing that since a load of old people had died, then it meant the result from 2016 could now be ignored.

I accept that I am boring about it and perhaps now is the time to try and shake myself free of the utter, visceral, loathing that I feel towards Remoaners, but the disgusting attempt to usurp perhaps the single biggest democratic exercise in British history is one that I hope history looks back on and condemns with absolute clarity.

These people genuinely believe their votes should count for more than other people. The definition of arrogance. With their language and actions ever since for me border into what they like to champion the most for everybody else in terms of hate speech. Many of them literally cheered on the death of people who voted Leave.

Terrible people who should be hanging their heads with utter shame.

Yep. Just read the bbs. One post on there, couple of weeks ago “ I hope all those that voted leave, lose their jobs and they and their families suffer for a long time” how very nice

Stirling - how can you say that few voted to leave on economic grounds?
Sure there were some jingoistic votes and some who voted on purely immigration grounds but an awful lot of people I know voted for the same reasons as I did.
The EU - let's say Germany and France - wants total control of its member states and to that end is prepared to ruin economies to ensure that those countries can never leave.
To that end the strong economies will have to provide the financial support and we are one of those.
The EU is in despair and fear that we have left and while it will take a few years we will prosper outside the EU.
It is my honest belief that the EU will cease to exist in anything like it's current form within 20 years.
Matov- great post!!!!

How long is this thread going to go on for?
1. The vote is over
2. No one knows what the impact will be. Everyone should be united in the hope that it isn't too bad at the start and will even up and improve in time.
3. There is nothing wrong with people keeping their own previous views. Its called politics.
4. There is an extreme on both sides - most people don't fall into either and just want to get on with their lives. Those on both extremes talk a lot of s***e.
5. People should be more bothered about what Boris and his Tory mates are doing - dishing out billions of our money to his pals in lucrative contracts - and privatizing the NHS
6. But more than any of this the fact that we are going to get pasted again today and if there is any important "leave" debate its the one about whether Roy Hodgson should be leaving

Matov- great post!!!!

I really don't know what will happen with the EU in the future but I don't think it will collapse.

With the UK gone the EU is losing a major financial contributor some of the smaller countries like Ireland may end up becoming givers rather than takers but it will still rely heavily on Germany and France to fund it. Italy and Spain are the 2 big economies that the EU would wish to go from taker to giver but that is not likely to happen for a long time so how then do they square this circle.

The next 7 countries to join are all takers so I doubt the EU is in a rush to add them then of course there is Turkey and for the ambitious others such as Russia and Ukraine assuming you can get around the politics.

It is possible that the EU will eventually recognise that it needs a 2 track approach possibly even based on it's new relationship with the UK.

An inner circle of financial sound countries with closer integration and full EU membership. And then an outer circle of prospective EU candidates who can only move on once their economies are aligned and also countries who don't want to join such as the UK.

This outer circle would be more of a free trade group like NAFTA so it is possible that countries like Russia would agree to join as long as there was no political angle.

Anyway whatever happens I think the current funding will start to change as an EU paid for by Germany and France will become too problematic.

There is worse out there. Not so much on the BBS but there are plenty of examples of people publicly celebrating the deaths of their own family members for having the audacity to vote Leave.

The vitriol and the spite has been a torrent and from people who love nothing more than to virtue signal their own supposed tolerance and understanding on any and every other aspect of their lives.

But perhaps now is a time to move on. Once January 1st has arrived perhaps we can begin to try and move on from this but the Remoaners (and again I have to stress that I bear not a drop of malice to anybody who voted Remain in 2016 and then just acted like a decent human being and accepted the vote for what it was) have a lot to be ashamed about given their disgusting behaviour ever since.

Not sure if the damage done can ever be reversed but I think we need to at least try, even if for me that will be bloody difficult.

As you say Brexit is done for now.
All we will do here is expound our views I guess.
Maybe it is time to move on.

I find it rather ironic that a couple of the biggest remoaners on here are retired. They add nothing to our country or to Europe whether we are in or out. Not sure why they give a damn either way.

They are simply as described, moaners.
