when we beat them and now they have finished 15 points and 5 places above us. Them coming up from the championship as well. Its been an eye opener for me that if we had a proper striker and didnt play on the back foot for most of these games we should have matched leeds position this season. COYP

There's not a huge difference in the playing ability of the two squads. Can't think what else might explain it.

My bet would be that if our players had done pre-season with Bielsa we wouldn't have enough to fit to field a side in the first game.

Leeds have been brilliant. Demonstrates what can be done. I can't see them being a Sheffield Utd next season, but I guess you never know.

Amazing what a positive footballing philosophy can do for a team. Could be the start of something really good for us!

I don't remember anyone laughing at Leeds. They were impressive in gaining promotion, spent pretty good money thereafter and kept the momentum going. We had the rub of the green when we beat them, which most of us acknowledged. What I do recall is a discussion about whether open attacking football could be made to work for a small to medium sized club in the top flight in the long run. Whether Leeds count as a small to medium sized club will be revealed by their spending level over the next couple of years, but presuming their budget is comparable to ours, time will tell whether their style can be successful in the longer term. They would be in the distinct minority if so.

Bielsa is the reason. That's the reason he's the 5th highest earning manager in the league and was the 6th actually even when in the champ apparently! Unfortunately there isn't another one out there that we can go and get.
