Hopefully it will only last a moment, in political terms. Just a one term Presidency, in which she clashes frequently with the EU and especially Germany, gets nothing done because she is blocked at every turn by EU directives. Her supporters get frustrated and split, with the really far right gaining ground. She would probably try to follow them, as that's her natural home, and her popularity with the centre right would decline again, and out she goes.

All speculation, of course, but the latter half of this decade could be a very uncomfortable one for France.

All a bit fan fiction, but fair enough I have no issue with speculation from your perspective.

All I can say is that from the direction Europe and obviously France is travelling it appears likely that Le Pen has a great chance next time round......but that's not particularly hard to summise, similar to predicting the Democrats losing badly in November.

Over and above that I haven't a clue.....the way our elites are running things I'll be happy to still be breathing.

Ah yes the democratic EU that doesn't interfere in the internal politics of its members

There is a huge difference between "interfering" and the member's voluntary agreeing to abide by decisions taken at EU level. Become a member, then you make that agreement. Some things you will like, some you won't, but there will always be some people who believe they are all wrong.

the emergence of Religious ethno-politics in France (or anywhere else) is not new. Belgium & France know all about it.

We have seen in Northern Ireland that it can be a dangerous thing.

below is the kind of thing that fuels the rise of Le Pen....

As if this couldn't be predicted by people of intelligence.

They either didn't care or they did it on purpose.

It is sad to think that we might have to start voting for far right wing parties to combat the steady destruction of our culture and safety.
The ultimate outcome of all this will be civil war.

What "far right wings parties" even exist to vote for?

Not a lot in Britain, but you saw with Brexit how quickly a few individuals can gain a lot of influence and support when they strike a chord with the public.
We even had lifelong Labour supporters voting Tory when they felt that it achieved a certain objective.

By not a lot you really mean none. There were none during Brexit either.

Why do you say "It is sad to think that we might have to start voting for far right wing parties to combat the steady destruction of our culture and safety"

What is it about stopping mass immigration that makes someone "far right" and if you don't think that's a far right position what other far right policies would concern you?

Genuinely interested because you seem to be threatening yourself with a good time.

Fair question.

I don't think that curtailing immigration is a 'far right' policy. Neither is protecting the culture, heritage and security of this country.
The problem is with labels. Anything right of the Tories is deemed to be far right.
Unfortunately, Any politics which involves focusing on those types of issues encourages a percentage of rather unsavoury people who damage the image of those who only want a sensible way forward and an end to the current madness.
Anyone who considers themselves a Neo Nazi or the like would never represent me or get my genuine support.
Unfortunately, if we are forced to vote for a nationalist party, it often comes with those kinds of characters.

If someone starts a party that can win significant votes on those issues and keeps out the little fascists, then I will vote for it.

I hope someone does start one. Then people like you can vote for it, the Tory Party can be free of them and return to the type of centre-right politics that I support. As I see no prospect at all of any party of the type you advocate for being anything other than a sideshow, then this is all to the good.

UKIP mark 2 would be fine. Maybe Farage could lead it. Just remember, despite all the noise, they never succeeded in gaining a seat through the ballot box. Other, ironically, in the European Parliament.
