I start to think that the only thing that that has ever made this story float is the idea there is a release clause set at £35 mill. It’s just not public knowledge that such a clause exists . He isn’t one Chelsea really need, and he is not Mahrez, or at least not yet. As far as top four is concerned he is still only a beginner, a very promising beginner maybe. With the market inflated as it is £35mill might appeal, so wind that thought up and you have a roll on story.

An interesting point has come up on Chelsea’s purchase of another player. The club are close to the FFP limit on transfer fees hence try to phase their payments over the life of some very long contracts. Even if there is an unrestricted £35m buy out clause Chelsea will find it difficult to pay and keep within the FFP limit if Palace insist on the full amount up front. Does this possibly explain the reluctance to release Lewis Hall on loan without Palace negotiating on phased payments?
Of course this is all irrelevant if the terms of Olive’s contract are different to that widely assumed by ITK journalists. SP and DF may actually have learned something over the last ten years and are not going to allow a bottom half club like Chelsea to improve their squad at our expense.

Having spoken to someone I know the other day who does get the occasional bit of information (he does not work for Palace but in his job hears info coming out of a number of clubs) Olise's injury has an unknown return date and could end up being long term.
In view of this the feeling is both City and Chelsea have lost interest. Thats not to say that they wont be back in January or next Summer but I'm told it is very unlikely Olise will be going anywhere in this window.
Clinton Morrison hinted at the same thing on GSS when asked about this saying he is still in contact with Dougie Freedman.

Whats Arthur, Stan and Jack got to say about it

Totally agree with this, as its something i've been saying ever since the click-bait rumours started, he's injured. Only Palace buy injured players(Ferguson & Franca anyone).

Anyhoo, watching the Che-Liv game, its not an attacking winger Chelsea need, it's defenders. Those posters advocating they want CG back, really, he's running around like a headless chicken & no threat whatsoever, LET IT GO!

There seem to be two threads on Olise now.
In terms of a sale, the constant gossip is doing my head in!
Given that Olise apparently agreed personal terms weeks ago, as of today Chelsea are close to agreeing terms??
And how can Chelsea justify spending £400m in a window under FFP? Or has that gone now.
It’s depressing when we have spent less than £30m. Has any other existing PL team spent as little?

Before the Caicedo deal Chelsea had made £217m from their fire sale and spent £178m. If they pay £115m for Caicedo that brings spending to £293m, meaning a net spend of £76m.

Peanuts for them, but they must have anyway been way in breach of FFP last season surely.

They (among others) are probably super grateful for the Saudi money being spent this year.
