Parish’s managerial decisions bar Roy have been very questionable so we’ll have to trust he gets this one right. Roy has been forced back to his old style, due to circumstances beyond his control. Last season he had Decoure, Eze, Olise and Zaha all playing well, thats all gone tits up. Olise injured bar 5-6 games, Eze injured twice, Decoure out most of the season and Zaha couldnt make up his mind, then chose Turkey mid August. So, his attacking options are curtailed. Very few managers in the Premier play youth players over experience, unless forced due to injuries. Football is a cruel world, it can turn at an instance and managers get very little sympathy, usually the sack for not having their best players available.

Forced back into his old style isn't working, however. I can entirely understand the lack of our best players. Nevertheless, I can look at Pulis, for example. He had a crap side and used it to his nest ability to scrape points. We have to do the same now. We simply have to work on set pieces. We have no choice than to try and make goal chances from our own, largely regardless of where they are on the pitch. We need to put men forward and lump it up - however much that offends Roy's sensibilities. Same goes for defending them. We're going to have to bring everyone back, more or less, and defend them as a team. Bottom line is that we can't stick to Roy's system with what we have available. The squad is crap, admittedly, but is suited to other systems, not Roy's one. When Olise and Ayes are back then we can play Roy's system. In the meantime, we should change - and quite obviously frankly - to a narrow defensive, more direct approach. We should also look to exploit set pieces as we should at least get some goals from then. Again, it's not hard to work out when a team isn't scoring. Get goals anyway you can. It would be crap football, we wouldn't be Ajax, but we would be Palace and making the most out of what we've got is our only current choice. When better/different personnel are there then play the system Roy likes. It's getting ridiculous now. I feel Roy has to go, however, I get the feeling no one really particularly wants to come here. But I guess we'll see. Red and Blue Army!

Well, nothing happens quickly at Palace, so he has that going for him. Sheffield United is a must-win. It has been thought that RH specializes in beating sides in the bottom half of the table, but that halo has slipped a bit this season. Should the manager lose the next game, that may well be it. In the unlikely event that there is someone already waiting in the wings (other than Paddy Mac.) then to give him a few days to prepare for the next match might make sense? It may be that if RH stays until the end of the season, Palace will escape relegation (just). On balance, I would think that the Board will take the view that there is a better likelihood of this happening than if it replaces him (just).

Well, nothing happens quickly at Palace, so he has that going for him.

Sheffield United is a must-win. It has been thought that RH specializes in beating sides in the bottom half of the table, but that halo has slipped a bit this season. Should the manager lose the next game, that may well be it.

In the unlikely event that there is someone already waiting in the wings (other than Paddy Mac.) then to give him a few days to prepare for the next match might make sense?

It may be that if RH stays until the end of the season, Palace will escape relegation (just). On balance, I would think that the Board will take the view that there is a better likelihood of this happening than if it replaces him (just).

This ignores the way Parish normally acts - a run as bad as this has presumably brought about at least a meeting or two. One with Roy I would think. I could be wrong, just a hunch, but I think there will be news maybe soon. And I doubt it will be about the New Main Stand.

To be completely fair, they also didn’t have new home shirts available last season until about Christmas and this year it took several weeks to get more than 1 box full of Mediums.

I just don’t think it’s right to say the Board is competent in this area, they’re equally useless at all aspects!

I fell into the Hodgson out camp yesterday. I wrote on the Parish out thread recently about being realistic with our ambitions given our income vs other teams. I still stand by that. What is alarming for me is the continuing coaching issues. 1) Set Pieces. At Premier League level, if you're doing well or poorly it's simply a matter of coaching. We have international goalkeepers, international centre halves. Arsenal yesterday demonstrated what can happen when everyone has a job against a team where no-one has a job. Our net goals from set piece this season must be appalling. 2) Goals scored. Sod the injuries - Luton have now scored more than us this season. We have failed to score in 40% of our home games this season, only Everton and Burnley are worse. In Everton's defence, after their first 3 games they've only failed to score in the United defeat and a 0-0 draw with Villa. 3) General work rate. Hughes floats that crap cross into Raya's hands yesterday and the lack of movement is astounding. When Raya catches it, freeze it. Schlupp is staring at him dejected, with Trossard next to him. When Raya releases the ball, Schlupp is still staring at the Arsenal goal, Trossard is 35 yards up the pitch in a full blown sprint. He scores. Odegaard, who was also next to Schlupp, is next in line to score. As Jesus gets the ball, Schlupp finally turns around. Turns out he was waiting to console Andersen who ALSO hadn't moved because he was squaring off with Rice. That's sod all to do with the board. Everton, Luton, Wolves... they don't concede that goal. Their managers demand a work rate that means that doesn't happen. 4) Bringing on Tomkins to play alongside Ahamada against a fresh Martinelli? Give me a break. 3) General work rate. Hughes floats that crap cross into Raya's hands yesterday and the lack of movement is astounding. When Raya catches it, freeze it. Schlupp is staring at him dejected, with Trossard next to him. When Raya releases the ball, Schlupp is still staring at the Arsenal goal, Trossard is 35 yards up the pitch in a full blown sprint. He scores. Odegaard, who was also next to Schlupp, is next in line to score.

As Jesus gets the ball, Schlupp finally turns around. Turns out he was waiting to console Andersen who ALSO hadn't moved because he was squaring off with Rice.

We've conceded 5 awful goals. Poor set piece work, poor transition and work rate, poor in game management. None of that has anything whatsoever to do with finances and player quality. That is all coaching. Even worse, it's meant to be Hodgson's strengths. If he isn't delivering the goals, AND isn't delivering defensive stability ... what's he offering?

I got my new home shirt before the end of last season before the Forest game and they sold out that day , granted there have been a few more shirts since , They said it was a " master stroke by Steve Parish "

Roy won’t be sacked. Not a hope. I tuned out to this season a long time ago. It is beyond depressing to keep putting ourselves through it. Lets just hope we start of next season in the top division with a fresh start.
