US President George Bush says those planning London protests over Iraq are "lucky to be free" in a BBC interview.

He's got a point. These do-gooder protesters should shut up and get on with their lives.

Well we are lucky to live in a country where we are free to protest. He is entirely correct.

And as such we should not ignore those rights and should be free and feel justified in protesting peacefully against things we are unhappy with. And should not be willing just to sit by while decisions are being made in our name which have adversely affected the world we live in.

We should really stop for a minute and remember that under Saddam Hussein, Iraqis weren't given freedom of speech. Now of course things have changed, Iraqis are allowed to protest, they just have to hope that US soldiers don't riddle them with bullets whilst they do so...

Mr. Bush told the News of the World the visit was an ideal time to celebrate freedom, security and a "better, more prosperous and peaceful future" for Iraq.
And how is he planning to celebrate? By running away from the problems in the country and forgetting all about the poverty, insecurity and turmoil that so blight Iraq under US rule. He no doubt hopes the electorate will do the same by the time of the next presidential election. These upcoming protests serve then as a reminder to the American people that their so-called 'closest ally' actually thinks that Dubya is a pathetic excuse for a President, and with luck, they will not deign him with a second term.

But the yanks do go OTT - I see they wanted a black hawk helicopter to circle Buckingham Palace the whole time Bush is there, just in case of suicide bombers.

And the secret service agents will be granted diplomatic immunity if they shoot anyone, including incidents of "friendly fire" !

Trivial fact - Palace used to win 5-1 at least once a season, maybe next season?

They also requested a huge area of central London was restricted to the public during the visit and that all tube lines that went underneath Bush's planned route were closed down....

it was plain ridiculous.

A lot of truth in that.

I heard the CIA stipulated that eggs should be removed from all shops in the South East and that the Mall should be closed for use as a runway for stealth bombers and that the Queen should have her ceremonial sword confiscated and that all the CIA men should get free Saville Row suits. And I heard some other stuff down the pub too so it must all be true!!

There's more risk from that thing crashing through his bedroom window than mulim mentalists getting a car bomb to him.

You're right Bexter. The trouble is I know a lot of them from my old workplace and they were bloody annoying as well as being hypocrites.

One of them was banging on about the Nike sweatshops while wearing a pair of Nike trainers at the same time. The same guy who shouts "racism" at the drop of a hat was being even more bigoted by coming out with regular homophobic comments.

The same people who, like us all, hates bigotry. But they themselves come out with mindless anti-semetic and anti-US comments.

That's without mentioning the guy who claimed Britain only went to war against Hitler because they wanted to take over the world. To be fair his extreme-left mates called him a t*** for saying that. But I could go on...

The same pricks who despite me having by far the better eductaion, look down on me like I'm a piece of s*** because I don't share the same beliefs as them. So much for their liberal mentality.

These types of people will be at the march and will - like they have done in the past - take the day off from work and see it as a jolly beano. They type who get pissed, run from the police and commit vandalism. Stick in the usual rent-a-mob crusties who love to turn up at all the demos and hey presto, you've got a march.

These are the people who I had to go to the pub with while all they talked about was politics and union issues. I go to the pub to talk about football and women, so left these boring mugs to themselves.
