Not her fault. Instructor must have been asleep. I do hope Mrs Forest Hillbilly is OK, both physically and emotionally. When I first took one of my sons out as a Learner he was so excited he leaned over to the passenger side to wave at a mate. I had to grab the wheel and we missed a parked car by inches. It happens, hope she can move on (in all senses).

Forest what was she thinking trying to work machinery??

I do hope that she has now returned to her tapestry and domestic duties....

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

I expect though that a lot of the candidates are people who've learned to drive by the conventional route and have failed their test previously, the pass rate round here is something like 36%. I couldn't pass in a manual no matter how I tried and only broke the jinx by sitting the test in an automatic.

Dear Dan, Please think about your re-starting position - you have over ten years without learning how not to drive, and can be expected to be cautious. I believe that Mercedes offers motorway driving tuition. Good luck and take care. Please also remember that it is not good form to crash into a coach bringing opposing teams or their supporters to Selhurst Park. Enjoy the variety of your newly mororised life.

She booked one of these intensive 'pass your test in 7 days' courses. She has only previously driven around Sainsbury's car park for 5 minutes.
The instructor was bigging himself up after the first day, telling Mrs Hillbilly how he used to teach racing drivers.
So Monday and Tuesday she did some driving on quiet roads. Wednesday, the instructor asked Mrs Hillbilly to drive to Bexhill-on-Sea, some 10 miles away.
"I don't feel confident enough to do that", she explained.
"Well we have to start somewhere in getting you used to traffic", was his response.
As she was taking a bend in the road, she lost control and rammed the car into a residential garden wall. "stop", said the instructor repeatedly, as my wife kept hitting the accelerator instead of the brake and rammed further into the wall.
Lots of twisted metal, broken glass and plastic and the wall was on the verge of collapse.
My wife had to get a taxi home.

Obviously the instructor is at fault, and he admitted as such.
We'll see what the proposals are from the Driving School. Am I likely to get a refund if Mrs Hillbilly doesn't want to continue ? Seems almost negligent of the instructor
