The BBC taking the moral high ground... That really is some irony!!
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

Danny Baker, Millwall fan pleading ignorance about the connotations of monkeys being seen as racist. I'm afraid that you lose any moral high ground that you may think you deserve by your ridiculous generalisation that Danny Baker must be a racist as he is a Millwall fan. Did you go around rioting, looting and setting fire to property eight years ago during the London riots as it's a fairly common thought amongst other club's fans that all Palace fans did?

If DB really intended the picture to be racist, it would make far more sense for him to have used a photo of an orangutan surely, given Harry being a ginger? *removes tongue from cheek*

What an absolute waste of time and money. It's one thing the Twitterati frothing at the mouth but quite another proving intent of racial hatred.

Somebody has made a complaint of racist abuse to the police, therefore they are obliged to investigate it. What would you have them do; disregard accusations brought to them? I suspect the police will conclude that there is no case to answer, but they have to follow due process.

He’s ignorant and completely sheltered from anyone not like him, as will most of his family be, down to his great grandchildren. I don’t like to tarnish people with being racist without being very sure but he’s certainly come out some ignorant and xenophobic comments and I think a few that people would deem racist, but probably fall in thevery ignorant category. Thanks, Rudi.

Danny Baker has lost his job over a joke so what other penalty should he applied?

The days of proving 'intent' or bothering too much with context are behind us. The Count Dankula pug case proved that. The only thorn in their way is human rights law....which essentially faces both ways. So in essence they get the verdict they want by focusing upon the interpretation they want. I have nothing but contempt for them.

Danny Baker, Millwall fan pleading ignorance about the connotations of monkeys being seen as racist. ‘Lampooning privilege.’ Danny Baker said this in his statement, but I get the feeling, after seeing several posts online, that nearly all of the outraged haven’t read his statement, and never do. It’s straight into full attack. I prefer to consider all possibilities, which is why I went from. 1. ‘I can’t believe he’s tweeted that.’ To 2. This is too obviously racist. He must’ve done it for a reason knowing this. Exiting his contract is possible. To 3. No that’s a bit unlikely seeing how mental it’s gone. His statements and comments on camera sound very genuine, and why would someone tweet this if they intended it to be with the racist connotation? Again, career and reputation suicide.

Danny Baker doesn’t need these lunatic morons for his audience figures and they’ll probably be unaware he has a new show, or they’ll move on from their 24 hour disgust he has one when someone else slips up and does something innocent or accidental on twitter and gets their online hanging.
