This is a forum of conversation right? About Tommy Robinson and the latest news of grooming gangs. I've stated a fact as per the conversation or shall we stop. It's almost like your trying stifle debate, are you?

So much for free speech. These are grown adults singing in the street about Tommy Robinson, and it has been published online and shared around the globe. Their free speech is alive and well. Edited by Palace Hero (17 Aug 2018 4.56am)

Edited by Palace Hero (17 Aug 2018 4.56am) Because they are in a crowd and it's harder to control than otherwise. But there is no mistake....they want to control them. Free speech has been curtailed by Blair's Labour party in this country and maintained by the so called right. Edited by Stirlingsays (17 Aug 2018 10.08am)

Edited by Stirlingsays (17 Aug 2018 10.08am) Totally free speech has been curtailed long before Blair, and rightly so in my opinion. Freedom is nothing unless it is matched by responsibilities. If your "speech" impacts the lives of others in an unreasonable way then it is for the protection of all that it be subject to restriction. You cannot print lies about someone without risking the libel laws. You cannot slander someone. You cannot incite terrorism, racial hatred or a breach of the peace. There are some others too but all make perfect sense in a well ordered democratic system. You can think whatever you like, and discuss it with others in private but go public and the public, via the law, have a duty to be involved. That's democracy!
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

During the drafting the issue of these laws 'hate speech' came up......guess which country advocated for them? The Soviet Union. Both the UK and the US dismissed their constant lobbying for restrictions on speech down to 'offence'. They were not included. Now, forward several generations and listen to the various 'progressives' who advocate for this idea that offence should be restricted. There's no real point arguing the toss with these people. As with the Salem witch trials, eventually when the gaze falls on them they will realise.....but they wouldn't defend their opponents so I certainly won't care.....Even though I'll likely be long gone. The ultimate conclusion of socialism....if it isn't contested is communism. Edited by Stirlingsays (18 Aug 2018 11.51pm)
