For me, even a basic understanding of what left-wing political ideology is tells me that far from championing Islam, any self-respecting leftie should be at the forefront of condemning it. They should, all things being equal, actually be even more 'extreme' in their critique of Islamic thought and teachings than TR. And it is going to bite the Left firmly on the arse, sooner rather than later. They might be willing to trade short term hypocrisy in exchange for the Muslim block vote (and lets not kid ourselves here, this entire current row in the Labour party over anti-semitism is driven by the reality that there are more votes from Muslims than Jews for them) but it will all end in tears one day.

They aren't into reality.....they are into idealism and half truths that fit their filtered worldviews.

It is part of modern Left culture to conveniently ignore certain realities related to other cultures and ideologies in order to uphold a more general ideal. In this case, defending anyone who is not 'White' against perceived racism from the so called Right despite the fact that it could be to the detriment of their own culture and country. The self interested have an excuse to be defensive but the new breed of Left are lost in a ideological fantasy. As individuals, we can't stop it.

They shot Hamas terrorists trying to cross the Israeli border... with the intention of killing its citizens. There were peaceful protests that took place away from the border and were left well alone.

Except it's not the Christian Right, but each of the recent US presidents. Except Israel cannot find a peaceful solution with terrorists (Hamas) at the helm.
