It is worrying that a country like Israel who profess to be part of the civilised West can act in such a disproportionate violent way. We all get attacked from time to time but that doesn’t mean you completely freak out in response and kill thousands of kids etc particularly if you profess to be above terrorists. I listen and in many ways get people who say “if your neighbours wanted to obliterate you then maybe you’d be a bit jumpy..” …but there’s jumpy and then utter opportunist genocidists if that’s a word. Netanyahu has a lot of responsibility and has always been a thug. I know many Jewish people who are not on his aggressive side and wanted a strong response to Hamas but not this. There’s no doubt in my mind that Israel is damaged psychologically as a result of centuries of persecution and of course the more recent holocaust. This makes them act in way that is not always logical to our English standards. I worry that what they have done just adds to hatred and is the best calling card for future Hamas members and the cycle of continued violence. What a mess.

Whoever was leading Israel, after the 7 October atrocities, the response would have been more or less the same. What would be a proportional response?

George I believe you can never eradicate a belief particularly from people who feel down trodden and subject to tyranny. They will always rise and probably stronger. A response from Israel was however necessary in light of the despicable attack on them. It should however have been short, sharp and civilised. If Israel are to win this years old conflict they need to be the grown up. At the moment they’re the adolescent thug just adding to the problem down the road. The solution with Israel and Palestine has be political and based on understanding, respect and compromise. Edited by XKudu (12 Apr 2024 10.20pm)

Both sides need to get rid of the radical influence. On the Israeli side the highly orthodox, Zionist settler influence and on the Arab side, the radical Muslim influence. No doubt, however, this conflict will have strengthened both of these influences in the region. For the Muslims, likely worldwide. Hamas/ other radical Muslim elements are bound to carry out major attacks on either Europe or the US very soon - and blame Israel. How do you think Europeans are going to feel being blown up due to Israel's actions? Personally, I don't agree with Zionism and saw nothing wrong with the British mandate - but again, the radicals were having none of it. My own Grandad ended up there caught between the two sides in 49. He didn't like it - needless to say.

Predicting specific events like major attacks in Europe is challenging. Blaming Israel for such attacks would depend on the circumstances and evidence surrounding each incident. Islam is to blame for the majority of sickness, sadness, and an example of not how to act as a human being. I think most people in Europe are rational enough to understand that.

I cannot remember a time when the IRA invaded the UK killed innocent people at a open festival went into a town knocked down each door and killed innocent people and then took hostages. You are clearly a hater of the west. You hate the UK yet you live in there. Edited by NJ CLOCKTOWER (13 Apr 2024 5.22am)

Thanks for the personal comments. They are really not necessary. People can express their opinions on the boards, without name-calling.

Edited by NJ CLOCKTOWER (13 Apr 2024 5.22am) Maybe not those specifically, but they were very fond of car and nail bombs being set off in England & Belfast - all aimed for maximum death and damage.
