Trump is famously teetotal. He would also rather join a ladies league than sit down with a normal person. In 100 years, when we are all dead and buried, he will be regarded as the worst president in the history of America, I guarantee you. America in the form it is now probably won't exist in a hundred years. Besides this is hardly a guarantee you can take responsibility for.....I mean, issuing out guarantees against Trump seems a bit shaky when this whole thread is full of Trump critics telling us how certain they were that he colluded with Russia and that he's soon to go. There is a truth and then there is what people want to be true. Edited by Stirlingsays (20 Apr 2019 4.02am)

Statistics proves he's already one of the most successful presidents of all time and he's nailed on for a second term. Why in 100 years would people see it differently? A solute nonsense based on personal opinion.

He'd be really engaging and entertaining to have a (soft) drink with. Or even dinner. I remember the outrage from the Fake News who found out he likes well done steak with ketchup. Get over yourselves! In 100 years? Worst in what way? Good to know you can see into the future. Do you have the lottery numbers too?

There is a truth and then there is what people want to be true. Edited by Stirlingsays (20 Apr 2019 4.02am) Have you read any detailed analysis of the report? Or are you relying only on what Trump has said, backed up by Barr and his pack of sycophants at Fox? It's very clear to me that this is very far from over and we have just seen a written account of what has been in plain view for some time. Mueller was never looking for collusion as that is not an actual offence. He was looking at the way the Russians interfered and whether anyone co-operated with them. He has determined not to proceed himself but there are many cases handed off to others. Impeachment, whilst desirable and necessary, was always regarded as an unlikely outcome given the balance in the Senate. Trump though has been wounded by this and will continue to be as the Congressional Committees work their way through the detail. Though Mueller decided not to try to indict a sitting President for obstruction of justice what he had to say was pretty damning as he passed on the job to Congress. A US President is held to a much higher standard than simply being able to dodge legal actions because of a lack of indictable opportunity. He is under oath to always put his country before his personal interests. No-one, not even his most blind follower, could possibly claim he has done that. Nixon was impeached for much less than Trump has done, which is a sorry reflection on the current standards of acceptable behaviour in the USA. Trump won't though be impeached and it's now up to the Democrats to get their act together to ensure their candidate is credible. Provided they do I am confident they will win in a landslide. If the GOP see that coming they might well dump Trump prior to 2020 in an attempt to save their party. If Murdoch instructs Fox to pull the rug from underneath him then he is definitely toast.

He appears to want to smash The Federal Reserve and give the American people back the right to control their own money, in line with the constitution. As for guarantees, you've forgotten 'Dubya'. That tool was a bloody monumental tool.

You just can't seem to accept reality. As for 2020, this is unrelated. However the GoP dumping Trump??? Save their party? Are you feeling alright Wisbech?

You are showing some of the same characteristics as Trump! He thinks whatever he says is true, even if it's an obvious lie and for him any criticism is "fake news". Clearly you haven't read an objective analysis of the report or you would realise that Trump's claim that he has been totally vindicated is completely untrue and that Barr's press conference was nothing more than spin, which was uncomfortable to watch coming from a previously honourable man. Mueller found multiple occasions when Trump attempted to obstruct justice but was only prevented from doing so by his staff refusing to carry out his instructions. That they protected him from a legal liability does not mean that he did not commit an impeachable offence because Congress can find that his intent was sufficient to meet the criteria. That's the reality, laid out in black and white in the report, which you can read just as easily as anyone else. Despite the calls from some for his impeachment, which I can well understand as a means to expose him further, I doubt that it will actually happen unless one of the House committees turns up something so heinous even a GOP controlled Senate could not ignore it. 2020 is very far from unrelated. Avoiding another 4 years of Trump must be the target and making sure that the truth is known the means to achieve it, alongside the Democrats choosing a unifying candidate that everyone not in Trump's "base" can coalesce. There are plenty of "never Trump" members of the Republican party who have their heads down right now but will quickly emerge again if and when his support starts to crumble. As has been proven many times his base will support him doing things that they would never accept from anyone else, but especially from a Democrat. Not every member of the GOP is though quite so stupid. So I am feeling fine thanks. The Mueller report may well have not been the earthquake that some hoped for but seems to me to have been the turning of the key into the room in which salvation from this nightmare can be found.

When he was giving Labour power he was the darling. At his last Labour conference speech...way way after Iraq they gave him a long standing ovation. Now he can do nothing for them, he's the devil incarnate. Edited by Stirlingsays (21 Apr 2019 12.10pm)

Stupid though, I will grant you, belongs pretty much exclusively within the ranks of the leavers. Having spent a couple of months in the USA since Trump became POTUS, and another 2 months in the Philippines where I know many ex pat Americans, I have had quite a few face to face discussions with Trump supporters. The similarity of approach, attitude, lack of compassion, lack of political sophistication and general ignorance between them and the average Brexiteer to be found in the pub is very striking. Not every Brexiteer of course. Some have well reasoned arguments and a genuine belief that the UK will be better outside the EU. You cannot though offer any excuses to the Trump base. I am always amazed at just how unworldly some of these people are, yet totally convinced that they are always right. These are very strange times.
