Retrial in October. 2 years after being released is dragging it out somewhat.

Signing for Chesterfield Should be in the thread in football talk, surely? Has anyone berated them for signing him yet?

"Chesterfield have requested that Evans be given space to concentrate on pre-season training with the club." - Good luck with that!

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Ched Evans' by jamiemartin721 He's had the conviction quashed so has every right to play. He's shown himself to be a nasty piece of work but there are plenty of them in the game. With the retrial set for October, I'm surprised that he has found a club before the outcome is known.

He has every right to play but if he was already at a club and this investigation/trial was pending he would likely be suspended and not playing. The idea that Chesterfield have actively recruited him while the investigation and trial are ongoing is terrible.

Never mind that he'll have lost 4 and half years of his career if he's found not guilty.

Quite quick by trial standards, but there is a lot of preparation to go through, and the guy was already out of prison. The court of appeal had the option to exonerate Evans, but clearly the new evidence falls short of that criteria. I agree that he should have been able to pick up his career upon release. Additional punishment in the terms of employment exclusion benefits no one in rehabilitation.

The idea that Chesterfield have actively recruited him while the investigation and trial are ongoing is terrible. If found guilty again, the headlines will be Chesterfield player guilty of rape. That's quite a risk the club are taking with their reputation. I can only imagine that they are not paying him much and are willing to take that gamble until after the trial. If guilty, I assume that he doesn't get sent down again?

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Ched Evans' by jamiemartin721 I have backed Ched Evans all the way since this thing started and got called out for it right at the beginning of it all. I Posted after reading the website dedicated to Evan's defence, and granted they are not going to have evidence for the Crown on it, however they did have a stack of evidence that his defence counsel didn't use in the original trial, like her frequent use of the devils dandruft, her boasting on social media of the money she was going to win, and CCTV showing her squatting down right on to her heels to pick up her purse that she dropped, whilst looking for money, not a feat easily doable by someone claiming to be to drunk to consent. And that for me is the key issue here, she wasn't to drunk to consent she was just to pissed to care. Unfortunately the website has been taken down, with a message stating that for legal reasons they have had to shut the website but thanking people for their messages of support. There were also character witnesses of the alleged victim, that were not exactly complimentary about her virtues and drug use. And I think once his new legal team divulge the evidence that was substantial enough to have the original verdict quashed, he will be cleared. I then hope the gold digging slut is then arrested and charged with perjury, falsifying evidence, stating a falsehood, and wasting Police time. whole stunk from start to finish. Whats more it just gives silly young girls ideas, that potentially ruins the guys life.
