Sounds a sensible thing to do wonder what the left's counter argument will be?

Simples ... from the perspective of a disenchanted ex civil servant ... we have a government department responsible for overseeing industry staffed by clueless officials and Ministers who wouldn't recognise good business even if it came out of their own backsides! The Chinese were never allowed free range access to government officials/ departments but I suspect they've now managed to 'buy' their way into this one. I concur as another disenchanted ex-civil servant. Most departments are run by incompetent officials who make decisions and then move on elsewhere. I have no knowledge of the department but I have first hand knowledge of the way departments are run/ managed and it is mind boggling at times

Sounds a sensible thing to do wonder what the left's counter argument will be? The differences in welfare between USA and U.K. mean it’ll be wiser there than here. Romanian veg pickers a case already happened during Covid. We should’ve pretty much closed the country off to protect our citizens before lockdown. Stopped holidays and non essential travel out of Britain after a certain date or no return.

Much of the incompetence is due to Senior Managers being incompetent! The powers that be decided that my old Department would be better served by Senior Managers from British Gas/BT/Southern Water etc but with no experience of the job involved, believe me it was/is a disaster

Something is definitely wrong somewhere in procurement whether it is with the NHS Supply Chain department or the Government itself. I have already posted about a buddy of mine on a business forum who has a business in China sourcing equipment for the NHS (amongst others). He had several hundred ventilators that he offered to the NHS through his normal contacts and four days later having not received a reply he offered them to Portugal instead who snapped them up straight away. I would like to think that in view of Rishi Sunak's comment that the NHS will get whatever they need the problem lies with a bureaucracy that doesn't function properly.

The reality dictates that life won't be getting back to normal until next year at best. Consequently we had better hope that a vaccine or effective treatment comes along before long.
