I hope Vicente retains his place. He was the only reason we came away with points in several games last season and seems like a good character. With Butland I imagine a lot will depend on how eager he is to push VG for a starting role. I always got the feeling with Wayne that he lacked confidence and was almost happy just to be back-up and collect his pay cheque. The fact he is rumoured to be heading to another PL club to fulfil a similar role would support that belief.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Good to finally have a new manager' by becky I was stressing with the delays in getting in a new manager due to the planning and preparation needed to get ready for the first game of the season. I think having so many players out of contract maybe a blessing in disguise as Patrick has room to bring in his own choice of players rather than maybe been able to change the squad 2 or 3 players at a time across a number of windows over a number of years. And as for finding someone's head, yes but Benteke's winning header invariably went to noone upfront except the oppo's CB.
