It is a funny old business though. My in laws are West Ham season ticket holders, and (all joking aside) they know nothing about football. Nothing. But the brother in law made the point to me a few years ago that he felt it unreasonable for the club to ask him to renew his season ticket well in advance of knowing which players he would be watching for his money. At the time I added what he'd said to the body of evidence demonstrating how little he understood about football, but in fact he was spot on. You wouldn't buy a cinema ticket without knowing what film was on, but as football supporters we shell out months before the summer transfer window closes, making a sizable commitment to an unknown quantity. I suppose we're just used to it. Edited by TheBigToePunt (14 Mar 2021 10.47pm) The cinema analogy you mention is a bit like watching the same film 19 times at home knowing what the ending is. In this case Roy’s method of setting up and playing. At the moment it’s a tough call and things are not normal and there is more uncertainty than ever and Steve Parrish is driving this uncertainty.

The season is far from over and Hodgson and the players are still under contract. Why would Parish reveal what he has in mind for the close season at this point in time?

Sharne Warne made a wonderful comment about Monty Panesar when he said that he hadn't played 54 test matches but he had played the same one 54 times

I'm a bit out of date with current season ticket procedures but aren't people likely to lose their seat if they don't renew months in advance? If so, it's a type of financial blackmail June 18th is the last chance to keep your seat at 19/20 prices. Then goes on sale on 24th June at phase 3 prices. That is unless parish sees the demand isn’t there and he extends it while saying the demand is there like last summer. But that was of course to hand over money for 17 games to get the chance to watch 5, or just 1 as it’s turned out, and effectively an interest free loan while billionaires and multi millionaires own the club. Why would Parish reveal what he has in mind for the close season at this point in time? This was my point. I understand that folk might wish to know who the manager (and possibly the players) will be next year before committing to a season ticket, and in many other industries you;d never get away with asking for a large financial commitment on such unclear terms, but football has never worked that way and never will. I don't want Parish to do anything differently now just to bring clarity for the purposes of prospective ST buyers I'm afraid (I buy match tickets through the season at the moment, so I appreciate that's easy for me to say). As Rudi has said, we should have a decent idea of whether Roy is staying before the deadline for renewing a season ticket, but of course the transfer window closes months later. One might buy a season ticket for some brave new dawn at Selhurst under Cooper, Howe, Dyche etc, then watch on with horror as the club sells Zaha and Eze. That's life though. Or football anyway.

I take it your happy with that situation and everything is good?I was under the impression you didn’t like the football being played under Roy and it’s entirely Roy’s fault that we are not banging teams 6-0.

if you dont renew your season ticket I am sure there will be many more people who have waited years and jump at the chance to have your "seat" I am enjoying our time in the prem and I am glad the last few seasons have been boring! no danger of relegation is just what I wanted!

Irrespective of my views on Hodgson, I'm looking at it from Parish's point of view. If he has someone already lined up then I would expect him to have told Roy and announced it formally at the end of the season. Of course it could be that there is no one lined up and Roy will sign an extension. Edited by southnorwoodhill (15 Mar 2021 1.38pm)
