At the end of the day, Charlie Austin scored 18 goals last season in the PL for a team who finished bottom and I do believe he would be a real asset at our club.

There has been much talk of Vardy coming from Non-League - Austin used to be a bricklayer and played for Poole Town before Danny Wilson signed him for Swindon for an initial £15K.

Totally agree Willo, wickham is good player but won't score the amount of goals Austin would.

You forget one thing,Austin puts the ball in the net on a regular basis.
I am staggered that alot of people on here are against this signing but football is a game of opinions

To be fair, I don't think those opposed to Austin are against signing a proven goalscoring forward. Austin just isn't their option of choice.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

Am I mad in not wanting him?

You can see when Wickham plays, we look far better in the final third, purely down to how he harasses and holds up the ball.

Austin can't do that, so I'd be inclined to look for a different type of striker (more akin to Wickham, Murray etc).

You forget one thing,Austin puts the ball in the net on a regular basis.

It's not as simple as that. I wouldn't be against signing him if he wanted to come, but if he did then we'd need to change how we play, the formation we use, tactics etc.

Much easier to buy a square peg for a square hole.

I disagree Austin is a target man, does'nt have blistering pace, but is very good in thee air and and has a great shot on him.

He came to us he would be our top scorer come the end off the season.

I don't agree. He was very good early season when QPR played with 2 strikers, but they lost most of those games. When they used him as lone striker later in the season his goals pretty much dried up. Not sure he can lead the line like Wickham (or Murray as he used to)

Agreed, I said pretty much the same much earlier on this thread, Austin is not a team player, he's his own man, at Palace he would be starved of the service he needs to score his goals, that's based on the evidence of the wide service this season, last season Murray found goals hard to come by for the same reason.

Well i hope he comes to us, i think .e would score goals for us through the service he'll get from wide and from set pieces also as his good at finding space in the box.

18 goals last year in the prem for a sh*t side,he'll get the goals that fire us into europe,no brainer.

As for not being a team player a good player can adapt to any style a team plays.

Austin to palace = european football.

The game is littered with good players where none of that applies following moves...probably the most recent high profile being Di Maria at Manchester United.

The purchase of Austin guarantees absolutely nothing
