So hows that ULEZ charging scheme going then? Next time a politician says we should charge drivers by the mile remind them of this. Fines are for the honest hard working citizen the rest just dodge them.

Which means it applies to absolutely anything reliant on number plates to catch the offender, obviously - should we just do away with speeding cameras too? It's a complete non-point.

I think my point is that ULEZ is being talked up by some politicians as the way forward for charging motorists when the fuel levy charge falls significantly and they need tax revenue. My point is that there is already widespread evasion so any charge by the mile schemes will fall on the honest. At least with the fuel levy even the crooks have to buy petrol and so pay it.

Normally driving a BMW. Normally in close proximity to where kids play. T0.ssers.

Hmmm…if the number plate logged at DVLA determines whether the vehicle is compliant, how do TfL know if the foreign registered vehicle is compliant or not to be able to try and issue a ticket? Or is there somebody at TfL that knows what every vehicle’s CO2 emissions are from a grainy photo?
hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing. |

According to this article the number of ULEZ charges has doubled since the scheme was expanded. So Khan is raking it in, but I thought he said of his critics that the number of non compliant vehicles was being grossly exaggerated by them? If that was correct then surely you would not see a 100% increase.
