My concern would be Ipswich as a rival proposition.

I will be so bitter if he goes to the caravan club.

Is that what you call Charlton? I can't see that. I've said all along that you were the club I was worried we'd lose him to

Yes they are the "caravan dwellers" don't know where that comes from. Perhaps there is hope for you though because there is still a good chance he will turn down both? Reportedly he turned down Burnley?

He did. And Southampton and Peterborough but none of them had gone as far as this with the club openly saying they've offered it. Doesn't normally happen unless they're pretty sure it will be accepted because it doesn't make the 2nd choice feel good.

Wait for our team to be decimated too as Wiggins, Pearce, Bartley, Pugh and possibly Jalal follow him.

I genuinely hope and don't think that will happen. Howe has too much affection for you to rip apart your squad.

I think that it may be a timing thing.

Nothing had been decided earlier today but it has been now.

IF he accepts then it will probably be announced next week because he said he is focusing on his last game for Bournemouth.

So they could be consistent.

A little bit more proof for those non-believers

So Sky are saying one thing and CPFC2010 another.

As I said on another thread, yes SP may have said that a decision wont be made until next week but if he impressed them so much today and other clubs are coming in to try and steal him from underneath our nose, then they aren't going to say "he's our man but we've said to the fans that a decision won't be made until next week so we won't decide yet." They will offer it earlier and finalise it next week at some point.

Talksport reckon Paul Lambert will take
the Burnley job so that rules Howe out of that one!

He has just been on SSN saying he's staying at Norwich. Looks like Burnley are back at square one

Our understanding is that he's already been offered Burnley and said he wasn't interested - Howe that is, not Lambert

Eddie Howe is on of the hottest young managers around and there a lot of vacancies, so its a great position for him to be in. I think Palace can put forward a good case and Steve Parish is a top bloke so fingers crossed our proposition is the one Eddie Howe chooses. He is a great Plan A, but I,m rather worried what our Plan B might be if he turns us down.

my speculative timeline:

- Howe tapped up earlier in the week, agrees to take job in principle
- tips a couple of mates, hence the big bets and betting suspended
- makes the usual sounds about focusing on the next game but remains evasive on future and does not rule it out to soften the impact on the fans
- 'official' interview today to tie up the fine details
- takes charge for final farewell game tomorrow
- news comes out over the weekend he's taken the job
- press conference 11am at Selhurst monday
