I noticed our home game against Villa is at an odd time and worked out it is due to the Hillsborough commemoration.

Will there be a banner? I'd give.

Kinda shows Palace have some solidarity with the Premiership teams around them. Maybe we've done this before?

Thoughts?

As long as we do one for the Bradford fans & one to commemorate the victims of Heysel as well, then I'm in.
Also The Ibrox disaster could be another one and also The Munich Plane Crash as well.

Not for me.

A terrible tragedy commemorated regularly but one that seems to supercede all others.

A great point about Heysel aswell by Jimenez...the terrible tragedy that liverpool never like to mention.

The late start and silences that will be a part of it will be enough. no more.

Will it be safe to attend a football match under the auspices of our wonderfully inept police force? The only banner I would subscribe to will be one asking for a more efficient and honest police force. Will they ever apologise and make real recompense for their terrible display at Hillsborough on that infamous day?

I am sorry but I couldn't care less if it happened to us hardly anyone wouldn't take any notice. Ill participate in the silence but I wont pander up to it anymore then that.

You couldn't care less that 96 innocent people, men women and kids, went to a football match and never went home?

It could've been any team's fans, including us.

And what about Heysel, Bradford et al?

The only reason this is taking any importance is because its currently in the news. If anything at all, there should be a protest against sh1tty policing should there not?

Heysel & Bradford are different issues; the OP's question was about Hillsborough. By your logic there would be no commemoration of anything.

It's "taking importance" as you put it because it's 25 years ago this month and the new inquest is beginning. As football fans we should support the Hillsborough campaigners because it could've been any of us and if it was us, I'd want other fans to support us.

Agree the policing of the event should be looked at, which it will be during the course of the inquest.

For EastEndPalace to say he "couldn't care less" that 96 people died at a football match is worrying for all fans, imo.

"Couldn't care less" is a tad OTT; as football fans we can strongly associate with the disaster and feel a certain amount of sympathy for those involved, and their families.

However, a banner is way too extreme. Is a minutes silence not enough? Surely the purpose of the minutes silence is to show respect, and a banner would just be an upgrade of this- like saying "ooh we can be more respectful than you". There's simply no point to it. Do you think the families of those who died will really care if Crystal Palace have a banner or not? A minutes silence throughout football is completely sufficient to indicate that the families have the support of most football fans.

But in truth mate I couldn't. Do I think it is horrible? yes. Do I feel sorry for all of the men women children and there families? Of course I do. Do I think we should go OTT with all the Arse Licking of Liverpool? No I don't why should we? As others have said members of families died at Bradford ETC but do they get the same praise as Liverpool fans do? No they don't, why? Because Liverpool fans happen to be more important then any other supporters. As I have said I will participate in the minute silence but I will refuse point blank to kiss their arses any further.
