I really loathe this lot but it does seem crazy that they're the third biggest party in terms of percentage of votes and yet only have one MP. It just goes to show how screwy the system is.

You called me a 'Cnut' a few days ago.

Glad that you are reasoned and balanced and can make an unemotional decision.

Anyway Nick....What on earth are you doing with a yellow card?

Opinion opponent or not we can't be having our resident lefties kicked out of Hol.

I used the t word

So the multiple times you've been told that you're talking sh!t and to f*ck off count for nothing then? Good old double standards.

Seconded, Nick could run off to the mods many a time from some of the stuff he gets called on here.

It's bad form that someone's reported him. The mods are right to come down on reported abuse.....But Gusset gets far far more than he gives out.

Believe UKIP peaked too early - as have other 'new' parties in the past (SDP) - for the general election and by the next - in 2020 - we should have had the promised EU referendum and will either be on our way out - or staying in long term. They will be irrelevant by then.

What stands out for me, and seems to pass some by, is that it wasn't primarily 'the left' that tried to do them in. From reading the Sun and Daily Mail it was apparent that there was a relentless attack on both UKIP and Labour, as they were both seen as a threat to the Tories. Labour on account that they could get into government and UKIP based on the thought that they might 'split the Tory vote'. A point Nigel himself addressed.

Papers aren't faced with the same scrutiny as broadcasters, hence how The Sun's first ten+ pages were relentlessly anti Labour and to a lesser extent anti UKIP the last couple of days before voting..

Miliband treated Ukip in the proper manner as far as I saw. He was polite but pointed out where he differed.

However, certain 'left' wing commentators on here or indeed.....A fair few teachers at work mainly implied that voting Ukip was racist and anti immigrant.

Ukip's policy was just to go back to having controls of our own borders.....back to a time before the EU took them over......And that meant you were a racist and anti immigrant.

It's the old reductionist approach.

It really sickened me and still does.

It's a fair point you've made and I'm not going to get into a never-ending debate, but how do you account for the two examples above? Both seem pretty straight-forward examples of hatred towards ethnic groups.

Both cases could be accused of having an agenda from the media outlet's they're displayed on, but it's impossible to take the opinions of Duncan and Blay out of context. Voting UKIP may not be racist, but individual's within the party clearly are. That association is a little close for comfort for me. It concerns me that a party represents the opinion of 4m people yet cannot escape bigotry like these examples.

In fairness, a number of UKIP candidates were racist, such as the guy who objected to a UK citizen being an MP and possible future PM and said he'd shoot him.

UKIP as a party aren't racist, but more than a few of its supporters and members are.

Point taken.

Though I think the extent can be argued on.....The media and commentators were very willing to focus only upon the nutters.

It isn't a fair representation.

I agree wholeheartedly with that. Nick might fight on the other side of politics to many of us on here but that is his prerogative, BUT to get a yellow for calling someone a very mediocre word like he did after all the sh1te he gets thrown at him is quite laughable. I think he should have the yellow taken off immediately he just does not deserve it in my honest opinion....

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

Do people generally only get carded for "personal abuse" if someone reports it or is it something the Mods do of their own volition?

Does seem OTT that Nick G gets a card for using the t-word when others have regularly slagged people, especially Nick G off personally in a worse way with seemingly no card at all resulting...

These people probably voted Tory before Ukip turned up and yet there was no media 'witch hunt' for them in the past.

So the implication is that wishing to have border controls means you are a racist......Even though this was the policy of this country for hundreds of years.

Yes, there are racists in Ukip.....There are racists in the Tory party....There are even a few in Labour.....The point is that Ukip were and have been focused upon unfairly.

Mainly because some of their opponents wish to portray voting for Ukip as a racist act.

That was and is out of order.

Any party that you vote for contains a certain number of people within it you probably woulnd't give the time of day too.....It doesn't mean you are them or that you shouldn't vote for that party.

and equally UKIP is not without people who do appear to be against immigrants from other cultures, seemingly believing their presence to "undermine" our "traditional British culture"...which doesn't mean everyone who voted for UKIP takes that view...
