It's not just the Met. I lived in Preston, Lancashire for quite a few years. I applied for the Lancashire Constabulary on two occasions. I didn't even make the interview stage, this despite being ex army, a personal trainer (so I have experience of dealing with people on a face to face basis), and being more than physically fit enough to do the job. You'll only get in the police these days if you are gay (no I'm not homophobic for arguments sake), an ethnic minority or you have some sort of of physical affliction. The whole selection process is a joke and the police I see these days are woefully out of shape, soft and bovinely stupid. Of course not all police are like this, but these days it's all about sexual orientation, ethnicity and having retail experience.
This is the police force the liberal elite wanted. This country is going to hell in a handcart.

Generally to get into the police force you need to serve as a police special and have a specific qualification. One of the guys on this site's daughters just did that. Did you do that?

No, with my hours of work I can't give my spare time up like that. Of course if you're an ethnic you don't need to go that route though.

Yes, you do. I think you can get special assistance in the course in terms of tutouring (which I don't really agree with, but understand because the police generally want ethnic officers to work in areas of non-white population dense areas).

Ironically I turned down a job two years ago with the Police, who wanted to recruit me as a specialist.

Out of interest what job were you offered? If you don't mind me asking of course.

Undercover apprentice jihadi and toilet assistant to Anjan Chodhury.

You don't need to have been a special or PCSo to apply.
Though they did recruit from this group first before opening the process up.
Regardless of Ethnic background everyone must complete a CKP to join the MET, other forces have different criteria. This is a £1000 part time college course. Where you must achieve 100% pass in all 12 sections which are eassy form and not multi choice(other colleges have a different system) I can't say that certain groups do or don't get extra help with the CKP, I do know that certain groups were offered free training to help pass the interview process which would normally cost £200. The problem is the uptake from the target group is just not there.

If I was fluent in Spanish, Italian, Portuguese or German, I wouldn't be working in England, let alone as a copper.

Even with Hebrew I'd probably do one.

If I spoke Hebrew, I'd probably work in Israel, two week bank holiday, get in (plus more bank holidays than any other nation). If I spoke Dutch, I'd probably have got that very well paid job in Holland (in IT for an Amsterdam based bank), which almost certainly would have meant I'd been dead by now.

Not sure I'd pay a grand to be a copper.

For your information the complaint was not made by Ghosteagle.

Well, that says something for him I suppose...if not for the person who made it.

Fair enough.

What public sector job would you do?

The private sector is very important obviously and I'm not criticising it here.....but if you were to take five years out of your life to 'give back' so to speak. What area would you choose?

As much as we might butt-heads stirling, i am not in the habit of making complaints about people on internet forums. If people can't take it then they should just leave.

None, as I spent four years working in the court service. I currently work in Defense (which pays about 50-75% of what I can demand in the Private sector).

I agree....though with the caveat that posters shouldn't expect to be sworn at. I think that's a reasonable complaint.

If we allowed that this place would be awash with it.
