Visited the place after a fourteen year sabbatical last week. Not much has changed re:the soulless atmosphere and peeps shopping like hypnotised morons, apart from being scruffier, but it appears with all the building work going on that is it going to be, according to the Council leader anyway, a new, hip and innovative 'city' which will attract the creatives and entrepreneurial professionals like bees to honey. Yes, indeed. Building new tall buildings, shops and offices is just what the place has been crying out for. We have been saying that since the 70's. Good luck with that Mr Council Leader, sir. Can we have our lovely Allders back first though? That was tough walking past its frontage a few days back. The very epicentre of the town and what is it now? Some kind of mass, cheap indoor market? S'alright though. Everything is cool. They are bringing in shipping containers next to East Croydon to house small businesses. Think I might move back. Big chest and massive boobs [Link]

Yes, indeed. Building new tall buildings, shops and offices is just what the place has been crying out for. We have been saying that since the 70's.

Can we have our lovely Allders back first though? That was tough walking past its frontage a few days back. The very epicentre of the town and what is it now? Some kind of mass, cheap indoor market?

Think I might move back.

You watch, Croydon is the ascendancy, its going to change for the better a lot over the next few years. Including seeing a lot more Palace tops walking around! My username has nothing to do with my religious beliefs

When people talk about Croydon, are they talking about the town centre or the Borough? The place has many faults but it's nowhere near as bad as people make out. Has there ever been a town with a worse reputation than Croydon?
