6...both sides guilty as each other with lies and non truths

And you want us to be led by Corbyn, a supporter of the IRA, Hamas, Hezzbolla , al quaida and most likely IS??

Edited by the silurian (30 Sep 2019 2.15pm)

The 2016 vote was advisory only, not binding upon the government.

Cameron resigned, he could not honour anything.

Think you are overwrought, Jeremy C is not an IS supporter.

Unless you mean the ISlington Allotments Committee.

Can you supply a link that PROVES it was advisory, because I cant find any evidence of anyone saying that....Cameron said 'its your vote, you the people NOT MPs NOT the Lords but YOU THE PEOPLE.....never said 'of course ONLY if you vote to remain' did he?

MPs promised to honour the result, to get reelected then reneged on the promise
terrorist supporter......not overwrought just pissed at WE talking down to everyone as though hes some kind of expert
read it again i said 'likely an IS supporter' which he probably is, he loves terrorists doesnt he?

It wasn't my summary but let me help you nevertheless.

3....nowhere did he say it was advisory, only in your mind!

As any referendum in our country can only ever be legally advisory there was no need to say so. Although, in hindsight, it would have been better to have done so.

In fact he promised to HONOUR the result as did MANY MPs (obviously to keep their jobs in the following election)

The promises were, and still are, the problem but promises do not over-ride the duties of Parliament. If they become aware of unforeseen dangers then they have a duty to react to them. That's their job.

5. My voting paper had 2 clearly defined questions LEAVE or REMAIN.....did yours have something different on it?

Of course not but what the "leave" option actually involved was not spelt out and is what has caused the problems. That some never cared what kind of exit was arranged doesn't mean that everyone who voted leave don't. Add them to all who voted to remain and the hardliners are in a minority which Parliament is now reflecting.

6...both sides guilty as each other with lies and non truths

We will have to disagree about that but its unimportant anyway.

7, How do you know its bollox as it hasnt happened yet??
And you want us to be led by Corbyn, a supporter of the IRA, Hamas, Hezzbolla , al quaida and most likely IS??

No-one knows now, or will know in the future. All you can ever do is what all the information at your disposal tells you is correct. No-one in their right mind wants a government led by Corbyn. Nor one by Johnson by the way.

What has caused the problem is that when we joined back in 1973, we were told we were joining a free trade area (akin to EFTA, which we were leaving). If we had been told at the time that the free trade club would morph into a superstate with a flag and anthem and parliament and monetary unit and a superior legal entity etc etc. then perhaps we would not have voted to be in it. I know that Parliament passed various treaties (Lisbon, Maastricht etc.) that took us further into the European Project but seeing as all political parties had continuing EU membership as part of their policy, the public had no option of voicing distane at the direction of travel. Perhaps if we had been given a vote on Lisbon or Maastricht, then perhaps we wouldn't be in this mess. As I see it, Parliament got us into this mess over four decades, they can get us out.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

The enlargement of the EU project has been a political stitch up that has many people uneasy all across Europe.

I agree that the various treaties since and including Maastricht represented such a significant loss of parliamentary sovereignty that only the people in a referendum had the right to authorise a government to sign or not sign them.

While a 'no deal' exit wasn't the original desire of most including Johnson, who voted for May's deal on its third sitting.....it now represents the only mechanism for leaving.

The opposition could today recommend another vote on May's deal.....But the reality is that they are playing a game of 'win or bust' and indeed the suspicion is that some of them are in cohorts with Barnier.
