Think you are overwrought, Jeremy C is not an IS supporter. Unless you mean the ISlington Allotments Committee.

Can you supply a link that PROVES it was advisory, because I cant find any evidence of anyone saying that....Cameron said 'its your vote, you the people NOT MPs NOT the Lords but YOU THE PEOPLE.....never said 'of course ONLY if you vote to remain' did he? If they become aware of unforeseen dangers then they have a duty to react to them. That's their job. 5. What has caused the problem is that when we joined back in 1973, we were told we were joining a free trade area (akin to EFTA, which we were leaving). If we had been told at the time that the free trade club would morph into a superstate with a flag and anthem and parliament and monetary unit and a superior legal entity etc etc. then perhaps we would not have voted to be in it. I know that Parliament passed various treaties (Lisbon, Maastricht etc.) that took us further into the European Project but seeing as all political parties had continuing EU membership as part of their policy, the public had no option of voicing distane at the direction of travel. Perhaps if we had been given a vote on Lisbon or Maastricht, then perhaps we wouldn't be in this mess. As I see it, Parliament got us into this mess over four decades, they can get us out.

I agree that the various treaties since and including Maastricht represented such a significant loss of parliamentary sovereignty that only the people in a referendum had the right to authorise a government to sign or not sign them. While a 'no deal' exit wasn't the original desire of most including Johnson, who voted for May's deal on its third sitting.....it now represents the only mechanism for leaving. The opposition could today recommend another vote on May's deal.....But the reality is that they are playing a game of 'win or bust' and indeed the suspicion is that some of them are in cohorts with Barnier.
