At the Social Democratic party’s (SPD) conference on Saturday, Michael Roth dispensed with diplomatic etiquette to condemn what he called the “big s***show” of Brexit.

UK politicians “born with silver spoons in their mouths, who went to private schools and elite universities” were responsible for the current impasse in parliament, but were unlikely to suffer the direct consequences of their actions, he said.

How very true.

Please understand that I know a large amount of people voted for brexit with, what they thought at the time (and perhaps still do) were logical reasons.

Please also understand that many small minded bigots voted for brexit because they plainly and simply don’t like foreigners.

The leave campaign and certain papers stoked up that anti foreigner sentiment as you well know.

I have lived in many countries all over the world and luckily haven’t seen much xenophobia directed towards me, aside from a Scottish bloke I met in Sydney but that was in jest, and to be fair braveheart has just come out.

The point here was a very simple one. A million people of all shapes and sizes marched to remain. On the leave side it was by far a smaller demographic. Draw what conclusions you will from that, but it is a fact.

You were lied to! Cries the liars.
A million my eye.

Shock, horror. A bunch of quasi commies insult politicians that are fortunate enough to be wealthy. Who would have thought it

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's chaotic exit from the European Union has cost the economy about 600 million pounds per week since the 2016 referendum, Goldman Sachs said on Monday in a report that underscores how Brexit uncertainty has dented investment.

The report found that Brexit had cost the world's fifth largest economy nearly 2.5 percent of GDP at the end of last year, compared to its growth path prior to the mid-2016 vote on exiting the bloc.

It has also lagged other advanced economies.

Not quite true. Corbyn may have been brought up in Yew Tree manor but dropped out of university on grounds of ideology (aka being a jumped up s***)

What's wrong with going to an elite university anyway?

Have the SDP decided if they are for or against Brexit? Everyone knows the Tories are split, Labour's approach is the most perplexing of all. Corbyn couldn't make his mind up, they campaigned to remain, the heartlands voted to leave, they wont commit to anything, Tom Johnson has said they should have a peoples vote in their referendum, Chuka Umunna and 6 other MP's have left the party over it. If the Tories weren't such a mess. The only real clarity is coming from the Lib Dem's and the Nats.

I'd maybe challenge those figures if I had time to look at them, but I'll take them as fact. It's also worth noting that these are presumably investment (or lack of) analysis complied by the extremely vocal pro remain Goldman Sachs.

It's the uncertainty, rather than the result.
If we'd been proactive and left on the 29th March, having spent nearly three years negotiating and staging bilateral trade agreements and left on the front foot we'd have weathered the initial negative effects on investment very easily.

As it is, I find it testament to the strength of our industry and economy that there's been (albeit small) growth rather than a recession given May's weak leadership.

In effect, the economy has looked after itself whilst politicians, Carney etc have been infighting to protect their own elitist interests.

So long as operation remain rumbles on we're in stasis.

Over 200 Labour MPs voted against the deal against 34 Conservatives. Are these the silver spoon, elite, private school ladies and gentlemen ?

The truth is that Corbyn will cynically seize any pretext he can to oppose the Government because he hopes for a General Election which he believes he could win and enable him to unleash his Marxist policies on the electorate. He has put party before country.

That’s a very noble attitude. Maybe the things he saw and experienced, and probably did, in the army hardened his opinion. So are you saying events in the past have no bearing on how people regard each other today?

I don’t call it noble, I call it not being prejudiced.

Obviously people learn from their life experiences.

I think you should consider my example of the 20 year old Japanese lad. If you think it’s ok that he should be treated worse on the streets of London than a 20 year old Englishman, then I am afraid that is a racist viewpoint.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

Pure ignorance.

What went on in those prisoner of war camps means that we'd all be justified in hating them all, forever, in the names of our fathers.

You need to read a book mate. If his old man didn't/doesn't like Japanese people because of his experiences perhaps you should try walking a mile in his shoes?

Personally, I'm thankful for his service and if he wants to dislike the Japanese, good luck to him he's earned it. He's not a racist, he's a man affected by the effect of war and distrustful of his one time foe.

Try having empathy for a change rather than judge people. Bloke is a war hero FFS.

Ironically you like to throw around the term ignorance a lot, ChrisGC.

If you think it’s ok to “hate them all” then good luck to you, no wonder you think Tommy Robinson is a hero.

So Theresa May's decision to call a snap election in 2017 wasn't equally opportunistic?

You want to challenge an official news source?

What will you do? Go to the journalists ombudsman?

Or will it be, as I suspect, your 'bloke down the pub' type opinion which you feel supercedes fact?
