Instead of listening to rumours or here say it's easy to do simple research. Only took a few minutes to find out health tourism was 0.3%, then your argument is fact based rather bulls***

And you always believe official figures of course.

Yes, it costs, you pay tax and NI and you get that back. But you'd trade all that in because some people abuse it (0.3% of the budget when i checked). Don't we all lose then?

Yes prescriptions are free in Scotland but not in England.
NHS dentists haven’t been as available since the system was changed in 2006 and in some areas it’s hard to find one.
A three visit course of treatment costs £269.30 in England. If you think that’s a bargain then you have more money than me.

Anecdotal

In the past health tourism has been under reported as people were registered as UK citizens by sympathetic NHS staff.

I think today it's a lot harder but how many people are still getting treatment they are not entitled to because they got onto the list when there were no proper checks and I doubt anyone is going to back check.

Come to think of it how many people are on the GP list who are dead or have moved away?

Having worked as an Immigration Officer for 28 years I can assure you health tourism is not a rumour, if you choose to not believe it that is your perogative but I have seen it first hand on many many occasions. With regard to your previous comment....Yes many do arrive and immediately ask for a house and money...but presumably you know better than me

or indeed relatives.
When trying to make enquiries many doctors refuse to give HO information and are quite happy for those not entitled to carry on receiving treatment. Emergency treatment has always been acceptable (ie road accidents) but long-term treatment for HIV, liver/heart complaints etc should not be condoned. PP hopefully you will always get any necessary treatment and not have to join a queue of people who have never contributed

I think I read earlier in the week about a guy (presuming he was British) helping his American friends to leave there senile Dad here in the UK so that they wouldn't have to pick up the Tab & the UK taxpayer would instead.

I wouldn’t be as bothered about the number of health tourists as the number of doctors in London who can’t speak English properly. I didn’t see a doctor for forty years who had English as a first language. Worked out well when one signed me off for a month because he didn’t understand what I had told him.
