Out of Context!!!

I give you a direct quote said directly to the nation, which is a self contained statement that directly contradicts what you said and you come out with 'out of context'!

Sure there was a lot of discussion....Labour talking the truth and Heath waffling and avoiding the blunt truth for most of it....I heard your contention and showed you where this is false.

The nation was most definitely lied to by the man at the top....He said those direct words in a televised address to the nation.

Here's another link for people on soverignty.

Iíll maybe look at it tomorrow. Good night

I still don't understand what the great problem is. It seems to me that the vote was to leave, fine I don't agree but that's democracy.

Now we have the situation that loads of time and money is going to be wasted on a general election and information and advice over Brexit.

Why not have another referendum with three or four different options of how to leave? Spend the money letting the people have access to information regarding the different options.

If we (the electorate) were clever enough to work out whether we wanted to leave or not then surely we are clever enough to decide how we should leave (still miffed we voted leave but hey ho).

What a sad f***ing day that people like Ken Clarke have been expelled from the Conservative party because they have a set of balls and see no deal for what it is.

The UK is really going in the wrong direction lately. Itís pretty depressing.

I missed this at the time. Not as though it means much from a stranger but if this happened I'm very sorry for your loss and just wanted to state that rather than let this drift by

Here is a direct quote to the nation:

'There are some in this country who fear that in going into Europe we shall in some way sacrifice independence and sovereignty. These fears, I need hardly say, are completely unjustified'

In response to the last quote, what are you afraid of? Seems to me the last few decades have been largely peaceful and prosperous, certainly compared to what Europe in the first part of the last century.

Interdependence does have a net positive affect upon nations and this isn't going to change regardless of the presence of the EU.

Peace since WW2 has been patchy but essentially the improvement has been multifactored.

As to why I object to the idea of being slowly absorbed into a superstate the reasons against that have been so regularly posted on here that you must surely know.....some of them are even in the post you replied to.

Parliament VERSUS the people.

In a nutshell. But let us look at the positives from last night. It is clear that Labour are now the party of Remain. There simply cannot be any more pretence about that.

And it is also clear that Parliament simply do not respect the result of referendums so what is the point in holding anymore? Failure to honour the 2016 one means that they have no credibility anymore.

We need a GE. As simple as that.

Because this issue needs to be settled. If we are to remain as members of the EU then I believe that the biggest constitutional issue switches to the future of the UK. Because what is the point in having Scotland, N.Ireland, Wales and England in a political union when it is subservient to a larger one based in Brussels? The very existence of a 'United Kingdom' becomes almost farcical in the face of it.

If we remain in the EU then the focus of attention for those of us who despise the institution has to switch to a fully independent England. We are left with no other choice. Of course the other parts of the UK are welcome to join us but they have to decide their own fates.

You call having balls going into negotiation with the EU saying we are leaving but only with a deal.
The EU must think "what's the catch, we will give you a deal alright ON OUR TERMS "
