Because we can change the magician if we decide we don't like the card we pull out. We are always in control. All of us, and not just a large vocal minority.

Sure and subsequently our Parliament has looked at a deal agreed between the EU and the government and rejected it. Not just by those who voted to remain, but also by many who voted to leave. We have gone past the campaigning stages and are now into the implementation stage and it hasn't yet been possible.

No-one won anything from the divisions and delays that the 2016 referendum has caused. Not even you. All your "winning" mentality has done is produce anger and frustration. We are still in and how, when or indeed if, we actually leave remain unanswered questions. That referendum ought never have been held. Such decisions should always be taken in Parliament and if they had decided it was best for us to withdraw from the EU they could then have entered a period of negotiation with them over how to do it, before triggering the formal application and thus avoided producing this unnecessary stress.

We don't decide the country's future like a cricket match where one more run can mean success or failure. We need to be much more thoughtful and professional than that.

The process has been hampered from the very beginning by Remainers trying to thwart Brexit using every available tactic.
That said, it was probably inevitable that everything would go to the last minute since that is the nature of negotiations with a time limit.
