Increased capacity and hopefully higher attendances - where is everyone supposed to park ? I'm concerned about traffic flow around all the congested roads.Maybe 'Park and Ride' will be necessary.

Dig down and build a multi storey underground car park.

Still no info then !?

Has anyone else suggested rotating the pitch so we can stare into the sun for 45minutes every match?

And have the NIMBYS at CPP been blamed for everything yet?

Or will the 'safe standing' everyones clambering for solve all the problems when we install loads of overly-expensive seats that we either cant raise or lower ourselves without guidance, or have to sit with a big metal bar in front of our faces, or the locking mechanism breaks after about 3 weeks of use resulting in worse chairs than we have now..?

Personally I'm more worried about all that mud BigSam has to stand in after all the Press have taken their photos from his 'technical area' before KO. We can't even sort out a bit of astroturf for them to stand on, do you really think we're going to see a new stadium in our lifetimes?

the premier league has never been so cash rich, we need a legacy to come from being here for 4 years

players/teams, managers come and go..... the stadium is here forever

You are of course right, however, our legacy is that every player is now a millionaire and won't need to work again after retiring from football. In football short term usually trumps longer term objectives

Rotating the pitch does get suggested every now and then by someone who hasn't been listening to what SP has been saying. Likewise CPP, which he's made crystal clear, for even the most cerebrally challenged, isn't going to be pursued whilst he's CEO. He has expressed his support for 'safe standing', but we wouldn't install that in the hope that the government might approve it at sometime in the future.

The two biggest haddocks to be fried are sorting out the Main Stand before it, or parts of it, are declared unsafe and dealing with the requirement to increase disabled access. Apart from that little kite that was flown briefly, and quickly hauled down, with respect to CPP, SP has never made any undertakings to provide a "new stadium". All that's on offer is phased rebuilding/improvement of the existing stands with no timescale for completion.

All in all, I'd say we're pretty much on target.

Listening to Steve Parish from the BT link on this site, it sounds like most of the problems are to do with getting a small bit of car park land from a well known company on the sight. Might a little prompt, similar to the Lloyds march, help to resolve the situation, or a shop boycott maybe. This needs to be pushed through asap if we are to grow, and we may need to do something to jog this along.

If we're unable reach an agreement with Sainsbury's, and doing so is vital to our plans, then the rebuilding is not going to go anywhere fast. The bottom line is that Jordan did us no long-term favours by selling that land to them. If things really have reached an impasse, it does make you wonder how long the US investors will want to hang around.

In any event, I've always had a healthy scepticism about the whole rebuilding thing since we had planning permission, but failed to build, a new club shop and offices in the car park. If we couldn't get that done, for whatever reason, I can't really see a complex plan, along the lines of Liverpool's new stand, ever getting off the ground (no pun intended).

Thought the land was sold to them in the early 80s during the Noades era.

I think it goes back even earlier. Wasn't it Bloye who sold the land to Sainsburys?

There aren't many team in the premiership, championship or league one who haven't had major developments of their stadia since the Holmesdale was built over 20 years ago. Of those that haven't done anything, many of the teams have developments on the way or massive stadiums.

Clubs now need to bring in revenue 7 days a week on top of gate recipts. We also need capacity to make it easier for more fans to get to games. Whilst I think the membership system is fair, it does put people off going - especially younger supports. The average age of supporters seems to be rising as access to tickets is getting harder.

Leicester and Southampton both struggled after building new stadiums but they are in a much better position now than they would have been without that investment. Whilst Portsmouth did nothing.
