There aren't many team in the premiership, championship or league one who haven't had major developments of their stadia since the Holmesdale was built over 20 years ago. Of those that haven't done anything, many of the teams have developments on the way or massive stadiums.

Clubs now need to bring in revenue 7 days a week on top of gate recipts. We also need capacity to make it easier for more fans to get to games. Whilst I think the membership system is fair, it does put people off going - especially younger supports. The average age of supporters seems to be rising as access to tickets is getting harder.

Leicester and Southampton both struggled after building new stadiums but they are in a much better position now than they would have been without that investment. Whilst Portsmouth did nothing.

Southampton actually doubled their average gate from @ 15,000 to @ 30,000 after moving from 'The Dell' to their current home.

I know this as this was one of the football quiz questions in a league I used to compete it, many moons ago.Question was on the lines of highest % increase in gate from previous season !

Didn't Leicester go into admin after building their stadium so a few years in the 3rd tier and 2nd tier happened rather than paying it off?

We've done it the other way round to all those clubs who've been and gone, getting promoted with zero debt. What has to happen is that main stand gets built to bring us up to 35,000 without shutting any stands down. We then pause for a bit.

Fair enough, whoever. I was actually thinking about the car park behind the Main Stand which I think we rent from Sainsbury's (could be wrong of course). That's the only bit of land that could impact on alterations to the Main Stand surely?

Yeah, thanks to two administrations and we don't have a new stadium to show for it.

I'd hate it for my old car to breakdown in the entrance to any supermarket carpark at prime shopping time. That would be really awful.

But these things only happen in France, thank goodness!

We sold them the land and they can do what they like with it. They owe us nothing whatsoever; our problems aren't theirs. Perhaps we should have shown a bit more foresight in the first place, because now it's just tough s***. Let's hope the owners can cut some sort of deal with them as pathetic protests aren't going to endear them to us one iota.

Listening to Steve Parish from the BT link on this site, it sounds like most of the problems are to do with getting a small bit of car park land from a well known company on the sight. Might a little prompt, similar to the Lloyds march, help to resolve the situation, or a shop boycott maybe. This needs to be pushed through asap if we are to grow, and we may need to do something to jog this along.

This well known company has a yearly profit of probably more than every premier league club put together. They hold all the cards, they will decide wether selhurst gets redeveloped, not us. Can't relocate, looks to me like we're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

The Sainsburys car park for Sainsburys shoppers goes from Whitehorse Lane and overlaps the main stand and pitch and stops at about the 18 yard box or just before. I think SP referred to this strip of car park in the BT studio video the other day. Surely, if underground parking is something for the future, can't sainsburys for the time being have a chunk of parking at the back of the CPFC car park near the houses?

I do know Sainsburys own both car parks. Some of us who were unsure of this had it confirmed last year.

Actually underground parking is essential really. We'll be losing parking spaces and increasing capacity by 9,000 to 35,000 in an area which tends to have more fans who drive to games.

Looks like it may be a knock the football ground and build a bigger Sainsburys then Sticky one isn't it. I hope a resolution can be found soon, but I don't want to give them too much so that it undermines our future premiership status.

And as I have stated before I worry whether the roads around the ground could actually cope with this increased capacity.

Maybe a 'Park and Ride' from Croydon etc etc could be considered.

Can't see us really doing anything without greatly benefiting Sainsbury's but what other choice do we have.
