Should a general election be called.

With Dave resigning (in what was a very good and humble speech IMHO) I think there should be an election called so that each party can put forward their plans for a post Brexit Britain. From what I understand the fixed parliament act can be overridden in certain circumstances. If we do not have an election, we will effectively have a government without manifesto which is to my mind, undemocratic.

Not immediately but certainly in the next 12 months.

Cameron was losing support not just because he was a remainer,but also because people are fed up with the austerity agenda. If the Tories lurch further rightwards it could be their undoing.

The big surprises in the swing on the EU was in the North and Midlands, traditional Labour areas. The big outcome here, is a wake up call of just how out of touch with the public interest MPs are. Any party that actually can exploit that could do very well.

If there was a GE, I would expect UKIP to make even further inroads into both parties

Hardly anyone in those Labour marginals will vote for Jeremy if he is up against Boris or even Gove especially as many will have done so already once by default via the referendum. It is pretty clear how this is going to pan out. Unless, of course, Corbyn is ousted and Farage is elected new Labour leader.
