The Tories showing Labour how to do grown up politics, The Parliamentary Party has to have the final say on the leader or else you end up with something resembling the joke that the Labour Party has become. Leadsom has done the right thing. Laughable. Leadsom has literally had to quit because people in the party have been abusing her! And IDS talking about "black ops" campaigns against her!

Leadsom has done the right thing. Nonsense. Tories would have been in exactly the same boat if Leadsom had been elected by the Tory party faithful. Would you really rather have a leader loved by Tory MP's but hated by 90% of Tory Party members?

I may not disagree with the idea that she isn't up to the job of being PM. But to suggest the Tories have been grown up about the campaign is ridiculous. I think Leadsom herself has acted sensibly, and she has put party before personal. But the party was ready to tear itself apart if she hadn't done the decent thing. And I think I'll use whatever exclamation marks I like.

Hrolf The Ganger is, of course, spot on. This has been a far more grown up process than Labour's. There haven't been months and months of multi-candidate debates that tear a party apart. Within a week we had two candidates, when it became clear to Leadsom herself that she wasn't up to the job over the weekend she decided to quit the race. To me, Leadsom has shown the kind of principles that Corbyn should show now, or actually should have shown a year ago. Labour are a complete joke, and now they're calling for a snap election! Have they completely lost their mind, it's like turkeys voting for Christmas, they'll be annihilated. Madness.

The moral of this tale is never pick a fight with a Home Secretary, they can find all the dirt imaginable on you. Naive to imagine such a ruthlessly ambitious person would just roll over
