Sounds no different to some people on here questioning wilf over the last week. He might be all those things but some of the best footballers have that arrogance, he's clearly a cut above most in Brazil and wants to move. I'm not against a maverick player at all, payet used to be questioned over his attitude and it's clicked over here for him.

Interesting post on the BBS quoting sources in Brazil

Santos fans detest him:

"Lucas Lima is very bad technically, is visible that it shook not have been sold to Europe. At the time I said, he should have accepted the money truck that China offered. And between us, the Lucas Lima has no football to play in European football, it's just a good player, on average in Brazil and nothing more."

"THIS Lucas Lima.
I want that weed away from my team."

"Lucas Lima symbol of this failure Board + Coach and players like Lucas Lima the real culprits."

"LUCAS LIMA selfish player who plays only when he wants."

"LUCAS LIMA player who thinks only of himself, selfish and ungrateful, without giving the group."

"Lucas Lima When he hit that corner to our last man wasting the opportunity to put a ball in the area was too. In fact I do not know if it was a prank with the team, boycott or arrogance, you think you can do whatever and whenever. One way or another should have been drawn down at that moment and take a scolding in public."

"Today he crossed the line, clearly unhappy by European clubs do not wish and now is that Santos has to suffer for their incompetence?"

"Lucas Lima is one athlete who realize the expressions of his face that is frustrated when your plans "backfire " ... he's always acting scowling, only shows some joy when a goal is (for the goal promotes the image of him) ... is clearly without the panache necessary to shine for a club, is frustrated with the plans and it is affecting his football."

That's the gamble, though, isn't it? We look to find a player that is markedly better than what we have already as we now have money to spend. We WILL buy expensive flops. We have just bought one of Liverpool's, it's just that traditionally they could afford to do so and we certainly couldn't. I hope that whoever we buy, and Lima looks good on youtube, they will gel well with the team, not cause problems in the squad and work hard for the team.

If you make a comparison to Benteke, he was purchased by Liverpool having been a very good player for Villa, but he didn't work out. So by that logic someone who "isn't" working out for Santos "could" work for us. Depends how he's managed, how he settles and what his true work ethic is like.

I've seen nothing since we had that bid of just shy of £13m rejected. It was a complicated deal and I suspect we've moved on.

Surely we'd have heard if he was on his way to England or if we had representatives in Brazil. I'd be concerned if we do the deal by YouTube and email.

Don't think this is a good comparison. The point being that Benteke has done it before and on an international level. Players have moves that don't work out but has this guy done enough before. I actually don't know!

Why was the guy wasting everybody's time if he wanted to stay in Brazil ?

Used us to spike interest in a bigger club and set the fee like batshyui - probably aiming at the same club.

As a ploy it failed.

How do you know that he used us as from what I've read it was us that made all the running and at the outset he said that he wanted to move to a big club in England or preferably Italy and we didn't qualify on either score

Obviously I guessed. This is a message board for opinions. It is not broad sheet journalism.
