Thanks to government, we have to rely on the SIS to establish that. They could be anywhere in Europe.
But you are of course eluding to Brexit again and potential right wing governments. Although Brexit has no effect on non European immigration, the message being sent to the ruling class is that we many don't want uncontrolled immigration from anywhere for the reasons I have already stated, terrorism being a major one.

No I am referring to your lack of underlying consistent argument (other than not liking immigrants). The main area of "mass" immigration to the UK in recent years has been Poland...no potential threat to UK security whatsoever...

Maybe not but the scumbags who carried out the cowardly attacks in France were able to go from Belgium to France and back again with no checks, that's what worries people.

Well done. You have managed to cram unsupported subjective criticism, baseless accusation, a straw man argument and selective reasoning all into one short post.

And I'd worry more about your own argument. You singled out one country that no one mentioned other than you.

Just go away. You have slipped too far below me to be of interest.

You're learning Hrolf.

The only way to deal with him is to not engage with him at all, unless of course you enjoy going round and round in circles wasting time and effort countering his simplistic union based drivel.

And well done you...you've managed to have 4 pops at me in one sentence and still not address my underlying point

Just agree to disagree and call the whole thing off.

The debate had descended into chaos from page 1.

Its always been a fairly porous border between France and Belgium - in fact most European countries are the same. The sheer size of the borders and the geography of Europe makes internal border controls prohibitively expensive. The UK has only a few points of access on the basis of being an island. In essence the freedom of movement across borders has largely been in place long before the EU. Its not really viable for mainland Europe in the most (although provision existed for police activity in criminality such as terrorism during the 70s and 80s).

Well other than UK job security In truth though the UK has still maintained border security, as the points of ingress into the UK, and the requirement for passport control is much more enforceable. When you consider the number of borders countries like Belgium, France and Germany have its very difficult to effectively control those borders without requiring a virtual army of immigration and police at each station, road and airport. Even then there are miles upon miles of countryside at which crossing could occur.

To an extent, for the most part though counter-terrorism and UK Security tends to be MI-5 rather than MI-6. Logistically, its far better set up to deal with threats to the UK (and the commonwealth). MI-6 is most certainly involved in counter-terrorism but usually more in terms of intelligence gathering and operations in countries where MI-5 has no presence (such as Afghanistan and Syria) but threats in those countries to the UK from terrorism, would likely be co-ordinated or operated by the security service).

Although that has become increasingly blurred in more recent times (IS in Syria). SIS has increasingly become involved in counter-terrorism intelligence gathering.

Yep no argument against bulls*** becoming accepted truth even though it has no basis in fact so you've given up.

Corbyn often cycles to places, the mail reported this as him riding a chairman Mao bicycle. It wasn't but it's just another layer of crap to paint Corbyn in a negative light. This feeds into people's perceptions.

I'm still waiting for some evidence of the vengeance spouting Imam that an earlier poster was so convinced of.

I'd like some evidence that immigration is the cause of all our ills rather than it being stated as a matter of fact and anyone who disagrees is a half wit.

Your point was erroneous.

Because one country has a large number emigrating to Britain who do not pose a significant risk, does not alter the fact that wider immigration poses a significant security risk.
You can't dismiss an issue by quoting one example that might favour your argument when 10 others don't,
especially when you accuse me of having no underlying reasoning.
Also, you have a tendency, like some other on here, to lace your posts with snide remarks making reference to racism and intolerance.
When discussing security, it makes you sound sympathetic to anti British causes.

I wasn't suggesting exclusivity and wouldn't dispute what you say, but your posts are usually so well written that I like them even when I don't agree.
