It is all very depressing that the main event for the club is us, as the team 3rd from bottom, desperately trying to sign a player from the bottom club, who as one blogger has posted on the Sunderland Echo " He can't mark a man, can't tackle and has the heart of a kitten. £14 mill is an excellent piece of business"...

Following Palace since 25 Feb 1978

Apologies if I am wrong but I've always thought Palace were more likely to release a statement early the next day rather than late in the evening...like I said I may be wrong but I wouldn't be surprised if PVA was already a Palace player.

Out of interest why does everyone get so flustered? SA said he was having a medical that should be a foregone conclusion. So why is everyone in such a rush to hear he is now a Palace player?

Probably because we have a bit of a history of seemingly certain signings going wrong when all the noises were that it was a done deal.

Like you say though i'm sure everything is fine and we will hear its done fairly soon, after all the heart scare was never going to speed up a £14m signing.

You could be right I just read back through the benteke thread and we announced it on a Saturday morning around 10am

Well Sam is the Manager and we should back him rather than a Sunderland blogger.

But you make your choice.

I will wait until I see him playing for Palace.

Hopefully he is better than Mutch.

Palace 13th 2017/18.

Why is it that on this forum, anyone who signs for us immediately becomes a waste of money whereas everyone who signs for anyone else immediately becomes a bargain.

I just think this has more often than not been the way Parish and co have dealt with press releases of this nature...and it makes sense as well. You want the news to reach as many people as possible don't you so early Sat morning before an FA Cup tie against City makes the most sense to me.

In terms of PVA and his ability and price tag. 14m is high but to think West Ham paid 8m for Fonte just highlights how difficult this transfer window has become. I mean let's be honest we wouldn't have been happy to find out we had signed Bamford for free on no wages for 12 months...borough paid 5m!!! Ouch! He will probs score past us now lol

A) we don't know it's 14m. It's been quoted between 7m-14m so we don't truly know.

B) he has guaranteed quality going forward and a nice thing to see is he has a decent right foot to go with a very good left foot. I see it as a good sign when a player is comfortable with both feet.

C) he's getting slagged off for being a poor defender and yet he's been the first choice left back for the past 3 Sunderland managers. Whether he is great at defending or not, it would seem he is truly a prem quality player and one we should be happy to have at Palace.

Fingers crossed he's already signed up and we can then move on to talking about how Jenkinson isn't worth 7m which oddly I after all I've said here...I don't think he is.

If it's true about his dodgy ticker then that might be why it's taking a time.
I wonder if negotiations between Parish and PVA look like this...

What takes all this time!!!

West Ham put in an offer - accepted - and have announced the signing of Snodgrass all in 24 hours.

The guy had a medical this morning - two hours tops. Where is the announcement???

Wouldn't it be good for everyone to get the good news out there asap. Why does every signing have to be drawn out like this........

First match 5th October 1974 - not a good day!

These boards we're full of Bolasie leaving being "great business" and Townsend being an "upgrade".

Van Aanholt had Wilf in his pocket when we played them at home last year but I remember Allardyce saying afterwards basically saying if they stopped Wilf and Bolasie we had fvck all really.

Just really pleased to see our club is being positive in the window. The left side has been a weakness for some time.....so if the PVA deal gets over the line, it will strengthen us over the next 4 months !!!
