But Ministers are blind to the reality of what children and young people earnestly need in terms of whole person development as a key stepping stone to contentment and then achievement. Meanwhile, our schools have no other option than to test their little darlings to the hilt.... After thinking about it, I withdraw my question to you that was in this response. I wouldn't get a straight response and it's really not worth the bother. To be honest. Matt is right. I shouldn't have to teach PSHE. Parents should be teaching children about eSafety. Alas they haven't been arsed to and because of that a legal bill was brought in making schools liable over ebullying. Just like parents should teach children about puberty and sex. Alas, they don't so we have to. Personally, I would like religion taken out of the syllabus because I feel it would be better handled by parents. Unfortunately most know nothing about any faith, refuse to teach about Islam with any respect or tolerance because they're told it's a religion of terrorism by the Mail. So I have to teach them it. Frankly Matt, if parents taught their kids half of what my parents taught me, I would be able to just teach Maths, English, Science, History and Geography. Alas they haven't been arsed to and because of that a legal bill was brought in making schools liable over ebullying. Just like parents should teach children about puberty and sex. We need to be careful here...push this whole thing to it's extremities and you end up with situations like the Scottish government trying to appoint a state guardian (not his / her parents) to monitor every child's wellbeing. When this went to the supreme court, it was thrown out. The presiding justices observed...“The first thing that a totalitarian regime tries to do is to get at the children, to distance them from the subversive, varied influences of their families, and indoctrinate them in their rulers’ view of the world.” As it goes, my wife and I talk to our children at home about all the issues you listed. I also spent 19 years as a classroom teacher.

We need to be careful here...push this whole thing to it's extremities and you end up with situations like the Scottish government trying to appoint a state guardian (not his / her parents) to monitor every child's wellbeing.
