On what evidence are the current inhabitants of the Queens Hotel fleeing war and persecution. From what I have seen they are turning it into a very undesirable hotel, the staff don't wear stab jackets for nothing ( as quoted by a policeman on here ).
There is nothing stopping you from a short stay there, then you can do a review of the hotel.

You used the word asylum to describe them so I assume that you know they are asylum seekers. If that's so then it's up to the Home Office to consider any evidence of persecution not me.

Ironically whilst the authorities here are willing to house them whilst their case for asylum is assessed they're still being persecuted by w***ers like you.

I've been to the Queens Hotel many times and as far as I'm concerned it's been a bit of dive ever since the late 1970s.

Given that it was built to accommodate visitors to a local tourist attraction that burnt to the ground in 1936, I'm surprised it wasn't demolished and turned into flats about 40 years ago.

Yep- that's the exact point I made earlier. No-one cares unless it doesn't fit their political correctness agenda.

My great aunt was given an MBE for services to the Conservative party, she was tory scum and I loved her very much.

I'm a south east Londoner, I've had a few mates who were 'wall, they were all scum just like my name is Nigel (it's Steve actually).

But calling people scum because they have the audacity to clog up the corridors of a 3rd rate suburban hotel where they've been "housed" by the authorities whilst their applications for asylum is assessed is just plain wrong.

20 million people currently face famine in Sudan, Yemen, Nigeria & Somalia. I can't get a number for displaced people from Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan (or any of the other places that we've been helping out recently by dropping bombs) but it runs to many millions.

And this painter w***er was so inconvenienced by having to move his incredibly important business meeting a few hundred yards round the corner to any one of a host of alternative venues on the triangle that he found it necessary to call these poor bloody people scum?

It has nothing to do with political correctness, it has to do with decency and understanding that as a Tory you put yourself up to be called scum. Without banter there is no football rivalry.

But picking on people who literally don't have a pot to piss in is for w***ers.

Observation is very different from persecution and picking people. You seem to want to turn this thread into a political issue.
You obviously don't know the area, as there are no other hotels in the Crystal Palace triangle.
I have a view on the hotel, should really be called a hostel.
You don't mind referring to other people as scum, but get upset if the current residents are!

I grew up there. Have your meeting in a cafe or something. Improvise FFS.

Morning mate,it's this Friday & Saturday we're up. Will be a good weekend, will be showing the missus New Cross where I grew up, take her in to central London to see the sights and then the gig. She's from Leicester so she'll be fine staying in a sketchy hotel

if you want to see the sights of London in a relaxed (lazy) way, these Duck Tours are astoundingly good (so my mother tells me)

[Link]

see all the big sights in around an hour.
you need to book kin advance. check the website

The hotel is the biggie, though. Really want to hear about it. stains and all.

When were you last in Croydon and London? If not for some time, then you will be amazed how progressive politics have transformed the formerly nasty, xenophobic areas.

Hope you both have a great time.
I love taking my partner to London, she is from a Welsh family and has lived her whole life in Bristol...easily impressed with my limited knowledge of the capital.
