I've been to the Queens Hotel many times and as far as I'm concerned it's been a bit of dive ever since the late 1970s. Given that it was built to accommodate visitors to a local tourist attraction that burnt to the ground in 1936, I'm surprised it wasn't demolished and turned into flats about 40 years ago.

And this painter w***er was so inconvenienced by having to move his incredibly important business meeting a few hundred yards round the corner to any one of a host of alternative venues on the triangle that he found it necessary to call these poor bloody people scum? It has nothing to do with political correctness, it has to do with decency and understanding that as a Tory you put yourself up to be called scum. Without banter there is no football rivalry. But picking on people who literally don't have a pot to piss in is for w***ers.

You seem to want to turn this thread into a political issue.

if you want to see the sights of London in a relaxed (lazy) way, these Duck Tours are astoundingly good (so my mother tells me) see all the big sights in around an hour. The hotel is the biggie, though. Really want to hear about it. stains and all.
