To be fair he was making sole reference to those at the hotel in question (based on his experience) not asylum seekers as a whole. I do wonder why people are getting offended by this when if for example someone hadve said "Watford scum" about a group of fans they encountered no one would have cared.

Sorry, I should have stated that was 'a moderator comment', not a personal observation. Several moderator alerts had be raised about referring to asylum seekers as scum. Didn't want to issue a yellow.

On the steps of the Hotel here are some of the 'scum'
And they all look a lot nicer than some of the feckless Brits you would see on a Jeremy Kyle show.

Only a w***er would use the word scum in reference to people fleeing war and persecution. PS complained via the official route but didn't hear back. PPS If using the word w***er warrants a ban then so be it.

What we need is an analysis of the use of the word 'scum' in all past postings on HOL. We could then have an entertaining debate on which categories of people the adjective can be used for.
