Waiting for Southampton to announce pellergrino in the tomorrow ......... like being right most of the time except for now , so for the sake of it I'll say I told you so ....... and I hope it's not a case of the one that got away !........Southampton have appointed Mauricio Pellegrino as their new manager on a three-year deal.

The 45-year-old, who left his role as boss of La Liga side Alaves in May, was under consideration along with Dutchman Frank de Boer, who has been offered the Crystal Palace job, according to Sky sources.

In Argentinian Pellegrino, Saints vice-chairman Les Reed believes they have found someone who fits seamlessly with the Southampton philosophy after a disappointing campaign with Frenchman Claude Puel at the helm.

I work for a company which has as one of its directors Philipp Lahm.

Philipp is represented at board meetings by his manager (who is also Markus Weinzierl's manager, used to manage Owen Hargreaves and was captain of Bayern Munich's reserves) a guy called Roman Grill.

In contrast to me (and most of the people on here, if they're honest!) he actually knows a LOT about football.

(He really does; it's genuinely interesting to hear someonw who works professionally in football talk about the game, it makes the conversations I have in the pub with my mates seem childishly naive.)

Anyway, we had a board meeting today and he was there and in his considered opinion, appointing Frank de Boer will be a disaster.

I fear the worst!

Definitely sounds the right guy to manage us for the first half of a season then.

Thanks Captain Bringdown

Anyway, back to the fun

Haha - this made me chuckle. Unfortunately our tried and tested strategy of "being dogs*** for 6 months and then bringing in a proven relegation dodger in January" may not work this year as we have managed to cycle through all the managerial relegation dodgers already.

I've written him a tune just in case. Might need a tad more work before it gets taken up on the terraces.

Now you're here we won't go down (down, down)
You'll make our players run around (around)
You'll never know how much we love you

You're CPFC
In you we trust
We don't even care that you are Dutch
We had a good man in Allardyce
Things were going well until he left us

Frankie, do you remember me?

Hol never seem to amaze me. First moaning about the lack of activity finding a manager. Then when ones close to be appointed. Sacking him. Can't paint every boss in the same picture.

He scores one with left foot, he scores one with his right

I live in Bolton and know where Big Sam lives - will pop round to see him in January and beg at his door for him to come back and save us again. However, hoping that wont be required and FDB is the right man at the right time - have faith in SP.

First match 5th October 1974 - not a good day!

Why did he think that?

I hope so.i'll be chuffed should Frankie sign on the dotted line and bring Bergkamp etc with him.

Would be great if we could replicate the Ajax academy and bring some of the young stars through.i'd be excited being a Palace youth and first team player by this appointment.yes it's a risk but so is every appointment.

His a winner and must have some serious contacts also.

Well done Mr Parish.

Be nice to see a bit of Dutch flair at SE25

Rejoice, Rejoice, Rejoice - could have been Mr Dyche!!!

It's taken a while but SP has his man. Proven winner with great contacts.

Feeling very optimistic - even got our red and blue stripes back!
