Anyway, enough about muslims.
I think heads will definitely roll, but who does the buck stop with on this one?

Well we are apparently having the usual public inquiry which will take about 20 years by which time any minister involved will probably be dead or living in Brazil.

As far as the 'blame game' that can only take place once ALL the FACTS are in the open...I daresay the Local Authority will cop most of it though. But as I said...it really depends on the findings...as you'd expect.

It's happened before to a tower block with the same cladding.

Well clearly if was found to be either the cause of the fire or at the very least a factor for how it spread so viciously that would be one thing...especially if it didn't meet current building regs...but then i don't have that answer at the mo...

interesting read jamie, but i would rather a cheap battery fed smoke alarm had been on every floor of that tower the other night than the alternative, nothing,,just one working on alternative,,nothing,,,just one working on one of the 24 floors could have saved many lives!

Provided the smoke alarm works. That's the key point. If it doesn't work, and someone dies, then you're responsible. Its easy to say in hindsight, oh they should have smoke alarms on every floor.

But if you install them, and they don't work, or malfunction, then you're also accountable for deaths, or the costs of a false call out, and the disruption of residents evacuating the building.

Of course you also have to somehow account for the alarms not being triggered by people smoking, dust from the rubbish chutes or people working, kids setting them off and so on.

Its never cheap.

The cladding did meet building regs. Unbelievable.

Ahhhh, well then...perhaps then that's a starting place. Maybe the way it was installed could be a contributing factor as well? I know there are rumours that the 'breaks' which should be in place at every floor, may not have been installed properly or at all.

If that's the case then the Installation company and possibly the Local Authority Inspectors should expect a large deal of scrutiny.

If someone thinks that they are responsible for or be found responsible for this terrible disaster....I wouldn't be surprised if they were at an airport today.
