Why don't you address the fact that people who do not share the BBC's left-liberal bias have to fund it, whereas those who also have the narrow, intolerant views of the liberal-left do not have to fund services such as Sky that they see as right wing. You can only watch TV on a device that's powered by its own internal batteries and isn’t connected to an aerial or plugged into the mains. You can't watch any...any live broadcast issued by a TV station. Only two percent of people don't pay the licence fee. That's because they are basically scared of not doing so. I pay it and it isn't because I'm satisfied with the BBC at all....It's because to not do so legally is far harder and inconvenient than 150 a year. So when I read your smug post it is particularly annoying.

The last thing broadcasters in a free press should ever be is patriotic. The idea of a fourth estate has been massively undermined by the rise of mass private ownership. Let alone an expectation of 'loyality to the nation' which is a phrase that typically means to the government. There is nothing wrong with being a patriot, until you start to ignore the truth, because it goes against your belief in nation / which always becomes 'the administration'. Its like no ones ever read Captain America comics which back as far as the 50s were hitting that point that being a patriot means standing against your country, far more than standing by it. Only very stupid people believe that the media should be patriotic.

The moment people use the term 'liberal left' bias, they're showing their agenda. They basically mean its not appealing to people who are right wing, and oppose the concepts of equality. The kind of people who complain about having a Lesbian character on Dr Who, on the basis that its 'pandering to political correctness', rather than the show being poorly written.

However, its the 21st century, there are all kinds of places online you can download product, and stream it to a TV. A large screen TV is just a monitor, if you don't connect it up.
