Signings are of the essence especially defensive recruits. A lot of thought 27m for Benteke last summer was extreme but unfortunately that the way the market heading. If you stand still, you get left behind. Surely they must made 4m on that sleeve sponsor.

Agree Peter, definitely need a specialist in that position. We also need better quality in cb areas. Chambers, dann, Tomkins, and 2 Lcbs (martins indi & Riedewald) and Kelly that would 6 cbs competing for 3 positions if de Boer sticks with 3-4-3 or 3-5-2

Indeed. I think he's also seen as a possible cdm. Not saying we need strengthening there since Luka has come in, but it certainly suggests he's got many strings to his bow

OK I have a lot of contacts at boro as I literally work oppsite the Riverside. Boro fans feel Chambers was a definate level higher in class than what they had last season. Most believe is is much better at CB than RB more natural at CB where he is very good but only Premier league 'average' at RB. Interestingly most rate Chambers as being the main reason for theur defensive solidity under Karanka and not the well established fans and local boy Ben Gibson. to quote one contact 'you could see Gibson had to try much harder than Chambers to be that good'.
