Looks like SP / FDB are trying a late bid away from Liverpool for Eliaquim Mangala Man City instead of Sakho.

From what I've seen of Mangala he looks a bit of a liability and is more than prone to a mistake, we've got enough of those sort of players at the club already.

Could be a lure to get Liverpool to drop their knickers. Hasn't that already been tried with Bruno Martins Indi and Kevin Wimmer amongst others. I don't think that Liverpool will drop their price at all as Klopp seems to be a man of principle and if their price isn't met Sakho will remain on their books until January when it all starts again.

SSN still reporting it even though they then reveal its a nonstarter as Leicester don't value Townsend that highly & don't want to sell Gray. If Gray was up for sale, Bournemouth or Spurs would outbid us. Also Townsend not interested in a swap. It was initially a story which sounded too good to be true - and it was.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Sakho (£20m bid) ' by Guntrisoft Like others, I'm praying we can afford to buy M. Sakho. If not, I hope we don't waste £23m on Mangala. I'd much prefer to get Ngadeu-Ngadjui for £3m or so. There's a seperate thread on him including a link to an 11min YouTube video of him playing for Sparta Prague (I think)) & Cameroon. He looks immense. We'd then have funds left to sort out a GK, RWB and a half-decent striker.

Either this ain't gonna happen or we're playing poker ......CRYSTAL PALACE UPDATE Here's the latest from Crystal Palace from our reporter Michael Bridge... "They are looking for that key defender, but at the moment they are nowhere near agreeing a fee with Liverpool for number one choice, Mamadou Sakho, with the Reds wanting £30m. "Another player they are looking at Man City’s Eliaquim Mangala and we are trying to find out if a bid has been put in for him."
