Benteke is a footballing mercenary. He'll go where the monies better and he gets a cut of the action. What Palace can do about it is anybodies guess. I can't see us letting him go for less that £35-40 million but who could we get in to replace him? It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Finding a replacement premiership standard CF who can play 40 matches a season without breaking down is a very rare commodity indeed. How much would it cost you now £40m and who's available? Benteke does untold damage to lots of opposition players who go near him anyway! Its also wrong to typecast him as "being a footballing mercenary and wanting to go where the money is better". I am sure he is perfectly happy at Palace, getting plenty of game-time (more than he would at some other clubs) and service. This is a nothing story!

Really, how's our recruitment drive going so far. We can't afford to sell Benteke unless a astronomical bid is made 60m. The squad depth is weak as it is. I hope we see a new arrival by next week. When do the players leave for the Asia cup.
