It's almost as if when what amounts to an organised armed militia comes to town, things go wrong. But never mind, because there was fault 'on both sides'.

Trump had no problem going full force about college campus trouble, but was awfully shy and circumspect when nazi types come to town. This isn't a matter of degrees, how do you screw this one up?

Trump hasn't though gone tactically "soft focus" has he? He has pandered and encouraged the nastiest elements in US society. Just look at the support messages from David Duke. Then read the responses from within the GOP leadership. He has made huge tactical errors because he has crossed the Rubicon. Even tacit support for Nazis is a no no. I am not an apologist for Antifa! I am just pointing out that they would not exist if there was nothing to oppose. Rid the world, through decent education, of Nazi attitudes and Antifa ones disappear with them. I have listened to Milo! He seems pretty extreme in his views to me. Nazi, maybe! Neo-Nazi probably. Idiot. Certainly.

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

Trump made quite a stink about the fact that the Unite the Right protest had a permit. It did, thanks in part to the ACLU who helped appeal Charlottesville's original decision to force the protest away from Emancipation Park (ironically) - where Lee's statue sits - to another, bigger city park. Oh, and the counter-protesters had permits too.

There was no permit for the Friday evening tiki-torch lit parade, though. They just gathered, lit up and marched through the University campus chanting Nazi slogans like "blood and soil" - a reference to ethnic and geographic purity. Which is a bit like when the Orangemen used to suit up and march right through the most Catholic parts of Belfast and then pretend to be surprised that people got upset.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

We were alerted to a video of a young man in Charlottesville, a self-proclaimed neo-Nazi, spewing hatred and bile. He was wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the name of Johnny Cash, our father. We were sickened by the association.

He would be horrified at even a casual use of his name or image for an idea or a cause founded in persecution and hatred. The white supremacists and neo-Nazis who marched in Charlottesville are poison in our society, and an insult to every American hero who wore a uniform to fight the Nazis in WWII. Several men in the extended Cash family were among those who served with honor.

We do not judge race, color, sexual orientation or creed. We value the capacity for love and the impulse towards kindness. We respect diversity, and cherish our shared humanity. To any who claim supremacy over other human beings, to any who believe in racial or religious hierarchy: we are not you. Our father, as a person, icon, or symbol, is not you. We ask that the Cash name be kept far away from destructive and hateful ideology.

Again...and as usual I'm having to repeat myself here. Show me what comments Trump has made that show support for the far right? If you produce one I'll probably support you and criticise it.

As for Milo being a Neo Nazi and some Israelis are Nazis....Well, I think that just reveals all anyone needs to know about your views.

For a 'progressive' to complain about Nazis so much you wouldn't think that the Labour party wasn't the biggest safe space around for anti semitism in the country.....oh wait...the grass roots and some of the upper tiers are full of it...hates nazis...has a lot of anti Semitic sentiment....no cognitive dissonance there at all is there.....As for you and your 'some Jews' are Nazis....well, at least you have a nice line in comedy.

Mr Gristle may support you and the rest of the 'progressive/regressives on here so I'll leave you to foam at the mouth with them. I can only cope with a certain about of crazy for one evening.
