So if you are a young attractive female with career prospects you get a different kind of justice.

I wonder how much complaining feminists will be doing about this lack of equality and 'everyday' sexism? Though I will tip my hat to a minority of them.

The social class aspect of this is at saturation point.

Yup, it's a shocker.

Looks like if you're privileged enough, you walk as jail would harm your prospects

It's blatant....if this had been some hairy bloke working in Tescos.....They even use the career prospects as an excuse.

It's an interesting case. She is obviously highly intelligent and skilled, training from be a heat surgeon with the highest ever grades at Cambridge.

She is a lady who will be saving lives with these skills in the future and there is an arguement to say there is no benefit to society in locking her up and preventing her from doing so.

The prison system is there to rehabilitate, it seems she was very remorseful and I'm sure it's given her enough of a scare to stop it from happening again. She has a lot more to offer to society than your average thug in these situations.

I'm not saying the decision is right as I'm not sure where I stand on it, but I don't think it's as cut and dry as others.

It's very simple and very cut and dry to me.

An intelligent and skilled person doesn't get to live by a different set of laws to the rest of us. Also, I think it's a very narrow definition of intelligence that ignores maturity and control...especially in the medical profession.

No one is indispensable and society doesn't exist to give one person more chances than another person.....That's what your family exists for....not the state.

This decision may well be intentioned but it is ethically wrong.

“she can’t even go to a nightclub in London, she’s so recognisable” - poor love. Whilst awaiting sentence, Woodward then returned home to her mother’s villa in Milan. And despite breaching her bail conditions by texting her victim, Woodward was praised by Judge Pringle for confessing her “guilt” and “deep sorrow” for her actions. "Although it was against your bail conditions, you contacted your partner to fully confess your guilt and your deep sorrow for what happened,” he continued. Apparently she has "unique vulnerability, remorse and good character". Judge said: "You had an immaturity about you which was not commensurate for someone of your age. Reports from the experts make clear you suffer from an emotionally unstable personality disorder, a severe eating disorder and alcohol drug dependence." [So it's forgiveable that you then stab someone].
A poster says she is training to be a heart surgeon - I'll have to make a note of her name just in case I need such surgery and she is fobbed off on me.

The prison system is there to rehabilitate, ?

since when?

the prison system is there to restrict freedom as a penalty for committing a crime, no requirement to show or undertake any form of rehabilitation whilst in prison, yes you may get time off for good behaviour but no actual requirement.

I guess it's just as well it was a bread knife - I doubt much damage was inflicted.

All these criminals are the real victims aren't they? Instead of taking the people stabbed to hospital, perhaps they should be taken to prison?

Not in my view, mate done a spell away for much less, assault with a weapon should be a mandatory jail term in my view.
