Ok if you insist. I researched how many countries have had terrorist attacks from extremists. The answer was 40. There are around 200 countries in the world. You do the math....ssss.

It's made you uncomfortable. Good.

I look forward to you destroying my claim with more research.

So, you make a claim....claim 'research' but when asked for some evidence or link you don't provide it for me.

I did just a little research.

Over 93 countries with terrorist attacks just in 2014 alone. The vast majority of those are going to be Islamic.

I'd say that it's probable that at least...at least double your claim is going to be nearer the truth.

From the following link:

[Link]

According to the report, some 13,370 attacks across 93 countries killed 32,658 people in 2014. This was a rise of 80% over 2013, while the number of countries that experienced 500 or more deaths as a result of terrorism increased by 120%.

Since 2000, there have been over 61,000 terrorist attacks killing more than 140,000 people. There are nine times more people killed in terrorist attacks in 2014 than there were in 2000. The chart below shows the rise in terrorism since 2000, and where it has occurred.

Oh, dear. See I researched Islamic extremist attacks whereas you have just researched terrorist attacks. of course yours will be higher. Duh!

You could..you know, hard as it is...just accept the facts/the truth.

Maybe not. That would take balls.

The problem is I actually care about the truth. So I asked for evidence for your claim. You didn't provide any.

The evidence for terror attacks shows an independent figure for just one year was 93....I suspect most people will understand that the majority of these are going to be Islamic.. You claimed.....with no evidence...despite being asked for it that Islamic attacks had only occurred in 40 countries.

I suggest that this claim is made up, either by you or someone with an agenda and you repeated it.

I did find a site that has researched just Islamic attacks. A summary of it claimed over eighty countries but it's problematic using these sites because you get the charge of bias.

So instead I put forward independent figures and people can make their own common sense judgements.

I'm sure that if I spent some real time on this I could find it out more accurately.

Nice work S.

If you are going to make claims like that, at least back them up with figures like this.

Someone the other day was trying to tell me about millions(slight hyperbole) of Irish coming here during the potato famine which turned out to be very wide of the mark.

Ok as you need a helping hand. My reference is from 1996 onward in relation to a previous poster's assertion re:Japan [Link]

You will find the number is 40. Refute at your leisure.

More than happy to stick by that. (I got a yellow card for quoting from another thread!)

The societal zeitgeist currently seems to be one of emotion and feelings triumphing over reason and facts.

One where a person's narrative of what happened...how they felt about something is more important than what can independently said to have actually happened.

Opinion is fine and has its place, but if we try to make claims of fact, we should be able to back them up.

That was back in the seventies as I recall. If it were not a virtual card, it would have faded to an off white by now.

You will find the number is 40. Refute at your leisure.

You made no time capped mention previously.

I already have refuted it.

What you link to isn't a list of countries where Islamic attacks have only occurred. If you read what is said, 'The following is a list of Islamist terrorist attacks that have received significant press coverage since the Iranian revolution in 1979'.

That doesn't back what you said.

Perhaps you have just made an honest mistake.

To be credible, I think that it is important to say if you are just expressing an opinion or voicing a general impression or guess unless what you are saying is factual or accepted as being likely fact and substantative. For the sake of ease and speed I guess we all use a mix from time to time.
