When Bright score the equaliser in 1990 straight from 2nd half kick off - thanks, Pembo - and you look at the Palace fans I defy anyone to to name me a game when we went more mental that that.

Funny thing is when we scored the winner at 4-3 our end hardly moved in comparison to that first one looking at it on youtube. Genuinely totally knackered all 14,500 of us. Our little group went back together in silence. Burnt out.

My favorite has to be Birmingham away back in 2012. Not because of the football though, we lost 3-1. It was because of the Palace fans. In fact some one even wrote a blog on the events that day and remains still the funniest thing I've seen at the footy:

Girlfriend from Matalan

Will Fahey’s wonder strike be the one thing I remember from this game? Will it f***! This game will long live in my memory as possessing the funniest thing I have ever seen in a football stadium.

As the Palace fans ignored what was going on on the field and decided to abuse the Birmingham fans away to our right with endless gibes, a song broke out, directed at a bloke wearing a tracksuit. “Tracksuit from Matalan” had us all giggling.

Moments later a man in chino’s started to pipe up in the home end and the inevitable “Chino’s from Matalan” followed. He continued to be a bit vocal, as did his girlfriend sat next to him. Then followed a moment of genius, and I will send a t shirt to the person who can prove that they started this chant. “Girlfriend from Matalan” was the cry from the Palace fans and the Birmingham fans girlfriend lost the plot!

She jumped out of her seat, jumped over the seats in front of her and charged towards the Crystal Palace fans. Stewards and Police were scrambling to stop her and it took three of them to restrain her as she seemed intent on killing each and every one of us. Her boyfriend sat awkwardly for a moment for realising that he should probably go and help her out, as the Palace fans celebrated her response like we would a goal. Then, just as he exits... “They’re off to Matalan” sealed the deal.

Nick was literally crying with laughter, my face started to hurt because I was laughing so hard. This theme was constant through the 1000 travelling support. It was glorious. I have never seen anything like it and will probably never see it again... If I was him, I would dump her. Total embarrassment.
Supermarket themed songs dictated the next ten minutes with, “Asda’s too rich for you” “We all shop at Waitrose” “Marks and f***ing Spencer’s” and “You all shop at Oxfam.”

No response from the Birmingham fans saw us start singing amongst ourselves with “Left side versus Right side”. It finishes with “Lest side, give us a song”, the response? “Right side shop at Matalan.” A round of applause from the HF before returning “Liddell’s too rich for you.”

It’s probably one of those ‘you had to be there’ scenarios, but never in my life have I ever considered a 3-1 loss to be one of my best away games of the season. What a brilliant day out.
To top it all off, a Palace fan fell down the stairs, through a fence and on to the pitch. He hurt himself in the process, which is not the funny part (I hope he is ok). The funny part was as he tried to stand up and pretend that nothing happened, he turns to the Palace fans, holds his hands up in the air and is wearing our Wilfried Zaha t-shirt. Great promotion haha

It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye!

Can't believe no-one has mentioned it as it sticks out in my mind clear as day, but my most memorable away match was 1st October 1994 at Highbury. Alan Smith was struggling to get us a result and we turned up to see Palace run out in their 'Brazil kit'. Our England manager Southgate was playing that day and Ian Wright was playing for the Arse but Salako banged two in before Wright scored his 100th goal for them in about the 70th minute and we hung on for a fantastic victory, in fact I believe this was the last time we beat them at Highbury. Great atmosphere that day and the Highbury faithful were not happy. Got pissed as a Parrot in London after.....great, great day.

Incidently the Wales manager was playing that day too in one of my favourite Palace centre back pairings of Coleman and Shaw.

I make you right actually Kermit, I think when brighty scored the equaliser it was a case of 'oh s***, we could actually win this' especially when GT had one saved on the line by grobbelaar which would have put us 2-1 up, we really started believing it could happen, then by the time Pardew scored the winner, we were all emotionally drained and sort of expecting it, so strangely it didn't feel as good as brighty's equaliser

My downstairs toilet at home has a 'Selhurst Park' sign on the door. It contains all my Palace memorabilia on the walls from signed shirts to scarfs, all cup final programmes etc..

Included is a framed picture of Bright seemingly floating in the air after scoring that goal you talk about. With Andy Gray and Andy Thorn running towards him.

Although the picture itself is literally a snapshot of a second in time, the sheer look of ecstasy on those players faces and the snapshot of sheer pandemonium in the stand containing the Palace fans in the background brings a smile to my face everytime I'm sitting having a dump.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

The semi final will always be the best away day ever for me especially as I had gone to the 9-0 drubbing at Anfield.

Another favourite of mine was Newcastle away in the FA Cup when Gazza scores a screamer past George Woods. He has said this was one of his best ever. Seeing the home end go potty was a mental sight. Proper crowds back then. Gazza was so good in that match, but it should have finished 1-1 as we had a perfectly good goal disallowed ( a certain Mr Pardew ...how ironic!).

We were stuck in a corner and the ground was being developed so couldn't see that much which was a pain.

I remember at the end of the match the home announcer came over the speakers to say we will look forward to playing you next year which was a great touch as we were in div 2 and they were div 1 back then.

Found a clip of the match...

Oh and the numerous Nottingham Forest matches in the 80s, we seemed to draw them almost every year. I remember one midweek cup game there when Salako scored from miles out to make it 2-2...I went absolutely mental. If that was Pele they would still be going on about it. I remember the match had been postponed twice..the first time our coach reached the roundabout outside the ground to find out match postponed. It was a mid week game too which made it even worse..

They won reply and ended up in the final that year!

Found clip ..

And the 4-4 draw at Leicester in the 80s was pretty mental...poxy George Wood for all who remember that one!

More recent was definitely Brighton away in play off as it was their first defeat and they were so sure they would win. Always love beating them. And like someone else said, Millwall away at the old den was always special for some weird reason!
